Chloe's POV
"Ow!" I winced as I massaged my forehead gently.
My head banged really hard.
I opened my eyes slowly and looked around. "Where am I?"
My eyes glanced at the wall clock. It was almost 4am. "Was I out for so long?"
'What happened?' I couldn’t help but wonder.
The last thing I remember was getting attacked by that crazy rogue.
I tried so hard to remember, but everything was foggy after that. Why was I here? I lay on the soft bed still wondering, and I noticed Zayne sitting by my side.
I quickly turned away from him, afraid of how he might react.
'I told you this wasn't a good idea, Chloe.' Nyx said mockingly.
"Ugh! I thought I shut you out already."
'I know you need me more now than ever.'
"I don't."
'Stop trying to deny it. I told you Zayne would be upset.'
"Are you here to give me the 'I told you so' lecture or what?"
'Yes. I told you so.'
"Get lost." I scoffed, mentally face-palming.
'He's too quiet. Why isn't he saying anything?'
"I really messed up, didn't I?"
'Yes, you did. I can feel him upset, Chloe.'
"Ugh… What do I do now?"
'I think you should try talking to him.
"O… okay." I stuttered.
I turned to face Zayne, reaching for his hand, but he pulled it away before I could get a grip. I gulped hard at his action.
"Zayne… You're here." I muttered, my voice barely audible. "Are you mad at me?"
Silence.
"Zayne? Please answer me. Are you mad at—"
"What do you think, Chloe?!" Zayne asked, cutting me off. He raised his voice slightly, and I flinched.
He had never raised his voice at me since I met him.
"I'm sor-"
"Don't!" He barked again, and I shuddered. "You flouted my orders!"
"I was only trying to help. I-"
"Shut up!!!" He barked, using his Alpha tone, and I shuddered. "Do you know how I felt when I saw you in that state?!"
"I'm sorry. I-"
"Just stop apologizing! Goddess! What were you even thinking, Chloe?!"
"I got tired of sitting around and doing nothing!" I yelled, surprised I even did that.
"You're not some sort of savior, Chloe! You could’ve gotten yourself killed!"
"What would you have me do, huh?! Ever since I stepped my foot into this pack, everyone has looked at me like I'm dirty! Like I'm unfit to be by your side, and I'm tired of them giving me that look. I just…" I paused, my voice breaking. "I just want to be your perfect Luna."
The tears spilled down my cheeks, and I crashed onto the floor, sobbing profusely. I'm so stupid. Zayne was right. What was I thinking? Nyx was right too. I'm so pathetic. I could never be strong. I'd never fit into Zayne's world or status. Being a Luna of a Supreme Alpha comes with so much responsibility, and now, I realize I wasn't ready for that.
I glanced at Zayne, and I could see he was hurt. My stomach churned. It was obvious that what I did really affected him.
He crouched beside me, lifting my chin gently, making my eyes meet his. "I'm sorry, Chloe. I shouldn’t have used that tone with you."
"No. Don't apologize." I said, sniffling. "I deserved you raising your voice at me. I flaunted your orders, and I should even be punished." I said, bowing my head to the ground.
"You didn't deserve that. It won't happen again." Zayne said gently, before planting a soft kiss on my lips, and I couldn’t help but smile in between the kisses.
"Sorry to interrupt this moment."
I heard a feminine voice say, and I quickly withdrew from Zayne, feeling utterly embarrassed.
I looked at this woman and goddess! She was stunning. She had a model-like body that could awe every judge at a runway.
"Phoebe, what are you doing here?" Zayne asked her.
"You called me, remember?" She asked, arching her eyebrows.
I couldn't help but wonder who she was.
She turned to face me.
"You don't need to feel embarrassed. I know how it feels. I have a mate too, and I can't keep my hands away from him. In fact, it's so difficult being here when he's not with me."
"Oh… uh… okay." I stuttered. "I should, um… probably get going now." I said, standing up.
"No!!" They chorused.
"Stay. I didn’t mean to intrude. I'll leave instead." Phoebe said, turning to leave.
"Come back here!" Zayne ordered. Phoebe! "What are you really doing here?"
"You sent for me through the mindlink."
"Mindlinking only works for members of the Pack. You're no longer a member. You're the Luna of the Eclipse Pack now."
"But I'm still your sister."
"Leave, Phoebe."
"Ugh… Fine, you got me. I'm sorry. I was just fooling around. Don't be upset."
"Just get out."
"I'm sorry."
"What are you even doing out of your pack? Aren't you supposed to be performing your Luna duties?"
"I needed a break from that, and Damon was fine with it. Besides, you don't expect me to miss out on what's going on."
"What's that?" I asked, my voice barely audible, but it was loud enough for them to hear it.
"Really? Word travels fast. I heard that my brother had found his mate. Do you know how long he had been waiting for that? I didn't even need to guess that you were his mate, especially when I saw his tongue down your throat moments ago."
"That's enough, Phoebe. You should go."
"Come on, Zayne…," Phoebe said, nudging his arm playfully. "Lighten up a little. Stop being moody all the time. I came all the way here to celebrate, and I'm not leaving without a celebration."
"Fine. You know what?" Zayne asked, looking up at her.
"What?"
"Now that you're here, you're going to do something for me."
"And what's that? Celebrate?"
"No. You are going to train Chloe."
"Huh?" I muttered.
"Who's Chloe?" Phoebe asked, confused.
"Let me rephrase that then. Phoebe," Zayne said, his voice deep. "You are going to train my mate.".
