Chapter 11: Little Wolf

1014 Words
Chloe's POV "What gave you the right to drag me off like that?!" I yelled as Zayne shoved me onto the bed in his room. "Why were you eavesdropping, huh?" He whispered as he leaned in by my ear, making my breath hitch. "I wasn't eavesdropping!" I yelled defensively. "You weren't?" He whispered again, trailing his fingers on my face. "So tell me why you were hiding there." "It's none of your business." I said, my voice trailing off too. It was difficult to keep a straight face with his warm breath on my skin. "You're wrong, little wolf." "Everything about you is my business." In one swift motion, he pinned both my hands onto the bed with one hand, and I struggled to wriggle them out, but it was futile. Goddess! Why was he so strong?! "Zayne…" I murmured, seeing how trapped I was by him. "What are you doing?" My heart started to beat faster as his fingers continued to trail down my skin. "The real question, Chloe, is what do you want me to do to you?" "Huh?" I muttered, feeling my thighs heat up already. I blinked continuously, trying to see if I was having one of those dreams again. "Oh Goddess, is this real?" I didn't even know when the words slipped out of my mouth. "What are you talking about?" He asked, and I mentally face-palmed. "Nothing." I mumbled, embarrassed. "Tell me. Anything to make you happy. You're clearly upset. I've waited for years to meet you, Chloe. This… it's very new to me. The mate bond we share. I'm truly sorry." My senses clicked in an instant. "Right!" I yelled, and he looked confused. "Right about what?" "You made me look like a fool, Zayne. You claim I'm your mate, but you have no regard for me. I'm supposed to be your future Luna." "Chloe… I'm lost. What are you saying?" "You know what? It doesn't even matter. Maybe I should just leave. It's clear you prefer Evelyn over me." "Why would you say such a thing? Evelyn is nobody to me. She means nothing to me now." "Stop trying to deny it, Zayne. I mean… isn't it obvious? You both clearly have something going on, but you don't want to say it." "But we don't. This is clearly a misunderstanding. If you would just let me explain—" "Oh please!" I cut him off suddenly. "I don't want to hear it. I don't want to hear any more of your lies. I've made up my mind, and I've decided that I'm leaving." Zayne heaved a sigh. "Where would you go?" "Where else?" I asked, annoyed. How could he even ask me that? It seemed like he wouldn't be affected if I left. "I'm going back to my pack." "Trust me, Chloe, they don't need you there." "And what makes you think that, huh?" "They were planning to get rid of you once and for all that night before the Alpha Ceremony." "Really?" I scoffed. "I don't believe you. My pack members may be cruel, but they wouldn't go as far as getting rid of me. Pick another lie, Zayne. If they wanted to get rid of me, they'd have done that a long time ago." "You have to believe me. I won't let you go back." "I'd love to see you try and stop me." I said, trying to wriggle my hands out of his grip again, but it was impossible. "Stop trying, darling. I'm not letting you go." "Let's just end whatever this is. I'm clearly cursed. The Moon Goddess never destined a mate for me." "What makes you say that, little wolf?" "Stop calling me that!" I warned, tilting my head to the other side of the bed to avoid staring at his face. "Look at me, Chloe." He said warmly, but his tone left no room for arguments, and I was forced to look back at him. "What?" "You're clearly upset. What can I do to make it up to you?" "Nothing. Today was just hellish for me. I thought everyone was happy that I was their new Luna, but it turns out that they were just putting on a show because the moment you left, they rained curses on me." "They did what?!" "Not curses literally, but…" "Tell me who they are!" Zayne barked, his eyes changing suddenly. "It doesn't matter anymore! The main reason why I'm upset now is that you didn't even try to defend me in front of Evelyn. You haven't even answered the question I asked." "Fine." Zayne said, calmly now. "I'm sorry. Evelyn and I are no more." "So you both were a thing?" "Well, not technically… but yes. Our parents betrothed us both right from childhood. Ever since she found out about it, she's been obsessed with me. But I made it clear to her that when I found my mate, we'd have to go our separate ways." "What did she say to that?" "Nothing really." Zayne said, shrugging his shoulders. "Even after I told her that, she claimed that we were destined to be together. Can you believe she rejected her destined mate because of me?" "She did?!" "Yeah. She didn't tell me, but I found out." "Whatever." I sneered. "That doesn't change the fact that I'm still upset with you. With what happened today, you proved to me that I'm not yours. I don't belong to you, so just let me go." I finally wriggled my hands out, but he pinned me back onto the bed harder this time. "Where do you think you’re going?" "I'm leaving. How many times do I have to say it, huh? I'm clearly not wanted here." "Stop being so damn stubborn about this. I don't know what else you want me to do." "Just let me go!" "You are mine, Chloe. And I'll be damned to let you go so easily." "You can't stop me, and I—" Before I could complete my sentence, he crashed his lips onto mine suddenly, completely taking me by surprise.
