xi . how to stop publishing a new story

255 Words
Honestly, I feel as if this question that every person asked themselves at some point during their time on this website. I ask myself this every time I get a new plot idea: "How do I not write this story and publish it?" Half the time, I write what I want, publish it, and then never finish.  Most of the time, whenever I get this revolutionary plot idea - I write out everything in a Google Doc or in my notes app. By writing out everything in my mind, I'm releasing all of those thoughts and letting out all of my pent-up excitement over this new plot. This is something I find super helpful and usually leads to me not writing the plot, and only writing what I want for myself.  There's is no solid advice to give that completely solves this "problem." I'm going to be blunt about this. There isn't. It's either you love this plot enough to write an entire book and finish it, or whether or not you simply just like it enough to entertain the idea. So, when you have a plot idea that you want to write, I suggest asking yourself this: is this an idea that, if I write, I will finish? Is there something I can see myself loving in a year now?  If not, that's your answer. Don't publish it.  This was super short, but there isn't too much to say on this topic. Let me know if anyone wants a more detailed version of this.
