ASHTER STARR
"Damien..."
I almost couldn't believe it. There he was. As always, wearing his famous black hoodie and sweatpants with his converse. He had a small smile as his eyes showed so much admiration looking over me. He also looked so freaking good.
I stepped forward still not believing it. I thought he will be gone forever but here he was. He looked so much healthier than before and it warmed my heart. He didn't look 100% cured but he is a lot better than I last saw him. That was all that mattered though. That he was doing better.
With a little hesitation, I reached my hand out and softly poked him in the arm making sure that he was real, he gave me a goofy smile. Mixed emotions suddenly filled my head, making me feel a little dizzy. The anger, hatred, sadness, bitterness, and also happiness?
Should I feel happy that he was here?
Should I be angry because he left without any explanation?
Should I blame him because he is the reason why I stay up late all night and I was always sleepless?
Should I let him in my life again?
I was this close to letting him go because of the farewell letter he gave me. I have no hope that he will ever come back. But all of a sudden he showed up?
Is he messing with me?
More questions piled up in my head again.
I don't get it. I don't get it at all.
My brain couldn't decipher everything. All of this is confusing the hell out of me.
But that all thoughts vanished when my body reacted before my brain could even process. in just a second I jump at him while I wrapped my hands around his neck, he was caught off guard at first but he held me tightly, afraid that I might fall. I really missed him.
God, I missed him so much.
I heard him wince just a little causing me to let loose on my grip but he wasn't hurt as before. I felt his arms wrapped around my face as he buried his face in my neck as I did too. I inhaled his scent and it all felt like home to me. The nervousness I once had, disappeared and was replaced with happiness and joy.
We stood there holding each other until another knock interrupted us.
"5 minutes!" This time a male voice called. Not waiting for an answer and walking off.
Damien placed a small kiss on my shoulder before pulling back. Those beautiful brown eyes that I missed so much, started back at me and for once in a whole month, I felt happy.
"I missed you" I mumbled. Ignoring the fact I had only 5 minutes.
He moved back a little and gently placed a loose piece of hair behind my ear. He placed his forehead on mine and smiled.
"I missed you too..." He whispered before pulling away again and he looked at me seriously "I know you have a lot of questions but you have to focus on your okay first"
I nodded. He gave me a kiss on the forehead before he grabbed my hand and led us out to the door, I quickly grabbed my phone before we got out of the room.
Then I felt a buzz as I looked at my phone. A message popped out and I already knew who it was.
Leo: Me and my friends are waiting for you we are here at the backstage they wanted to see you first before they go to their seats. :)
I quickly replied before I let Damien keep my phone since I don't have any pockets. Before we continued walking backstage.
I gave Damien a side glance as I looked at our intertwined hands and I sighed.
Yeah, I clearly do miss him but there is still the pain and damage in my heart. I couldn't just accept him again just like that.
He noticed and just gave me a small apologetic smile.
Right, I almost forgot. They can read minds geez.
I shooked my head and while sighing deeply again. The show was about to start. I shouldn't be thinking about that.
-
I kept walking with Damien, I noticed that he is making sure not to break our intertwined hands. It was like he was desperate to just have his skin on mine on his and honestly, I don't mind at all. It's the first time I saw Damien be clingy with me.
I honestly didn't expect that he would come back. I really thought that he was not going to be a part of my life anymore. So I'm not complaining that he was clingy because this was all that I ever needed.
We made our way to the backstage and I was able to get a small glimpse of the crowd. Suddenly I wasn't calm as I thought I was.
My nerves are starting to rack up again as I didn't expect to see such a big audience. I gulped a little and breathed slowly to try and calm myself down so I wouldn't pass out, because I am certain that I would pass out if I don't calm the f**k down.
I was too into looking at the crowd and focusing on not fainting that I didn't notice that Damien had abruptly stopped in front of me.
"Geez," I said as I walked straight to Damien's back. His hand gripped mine tighter as I tried regaining my balance.
I was about to ask why the hell had he stopped so suddenly when I saw Zachary with the school principal talking in what looked like a deep heated conversation.
They immediately subsided the arguing as they felt our presence. Zachary seemed too pissed off to say anything as our principal had that famous smug look on her face. Which sent the same chills when we first encountered her in her office.
She walked towards us as Zachary reached to grab her arm, almost as if warning her not to do something she might do. She just rolled her eyes at him and pulled out of his grip.
"Now Zachary, can't I say hi to my favorite troublemaker" She smirked. Sarcasm was very obvious in her tone as she turned her attention back to us.
I heard a rasped growl from Zachary. "Judy please don't..."
Damien only started deadly at our principal.
I looked over at Damien comply lost and confused as to what was going on.
I knew the principal was someone not to mess with and a very intimidating yet sexy woman. She walked like a supermodel as she moved towards us. Stopping just a foot away with the same smirk and look that was sending chills throughout my body. It's not the good kind of chills. It was the bad kind.
"I'm surprised that you are still alive." She c****d an eyebrow up almost teasingly. It honestly makes me want to punch that look off of her for what she said.
Damien's eyes were narrowed towards her with one of the most deadliest looks I've ever seen on him. It was honestly so scary. His grip on my hand began hurting as I didn't think he realizes I was there anymore.
"Damien..." I whispered in his ear. Trying to get him out of his trance. His eyes were turning red and I knew that wasn't a very good sign.
"Damien," I said again, more clearer. Damien immediately sensed me and calmed a little. Releasing the super-tight grip. That caused the principal to look over at me. She looked confused and surprised almost as if she never even saw me. She was in thought when that same smirk reappeared as if she found out a deep secret.
"My, my Damien, you just won't stop causing yourself trouble huh?" She turned her attention back to Damien. Which made me confused by what she meant by that.
"She is a very pretty one isn't she?" She admired getting closer and inspecting me. My breath hitched at her closeness which made me extremely uncomfortable. Especially when she looked at me like I was a piece of food. Her eyes turn red as she licked her lips "and she sure looks so edible..."
I felt my heart pounding like crazy until Damien jumped right in front of me pushing the principal away with a growl.
"Don't you f*****g dare to touch her." Damien seethed at her, finally speaking up. The glow in both of their eyes only increased as the tension was so thick.
"Calm the f**k down both of you" Zachary came forward.
"We are in public I might add" He snapped at the both of them like they are idiots. i***t kids.
"If you desperately don't want us to fight, keep her away from my Ashter"
Everything was dead silent after that. I was in shock at the possessiveness in Damien's voice over me. Zachary looked at Damien like he have done a huge mistake by doing so and the principal regained her smirk as if Damien confirmed something.
What the f**k?
"Ashter?" We all turned as Damien's grip became tighter and his body stiffened. Leo stood there with his friends.
Why had Damien tensed when Leo was here?
"Hey" I greeted awkwardly.
"Where were you? We're going to be late, the show is about to start in just a minute" Just as he said that I heard the narrator's voice.
"s**t" I mumbled. I looked back at Damien, Zachary, and the principal.
The principal simply smiled like nothing happened and walked towards us.
"Well goodluck to you youngsters, I must take must leave now" She looked at Damien and smirked once more. "Enjoy the show..."
With one final wink, she walked off. Sending Damien to stiffen more. He looked confused and... Worried?
"Damie-" I was about to ask when Leo called for me again. In just a few lines we are coming out to the stage.
"Go," He said and managed to give me a small smile.
"I'll be watching you. Don't worry" He squeezed my hand reassuringly before letting go.
I looked over at Zachary kinda telling him with my look to take care of Damien. He understood and nodded. I sighed once more. I hug him before I ran to the back curtain.
Little do I know that this wasn't the only show that was about to start...
