The squeal of the shower turning on wakes me. I roll over, pulling a pillow over my head to block out the noise before I realize that the shower should not be on. I sit up and inhale deeply before a big smile spreads across my face. He’s home.
I jump out of bed and rush to the bathroom, smiling brightly as my eyes land on the man in the shower. I pull my nightgown off and get into the shower with him, my eyes and hands inspecting his body as I see the bloody water on the floor.
“I’m fine. It’s not mine.”
I nod before I throw my arms around him. “How long are you staying?”
“For good,” he says, his voice raspy. “I’m not leaving you ever again.”
