Cora has been rocking Peter. He’s been asleep for an hour, but I don’t have the heart to make her get up. She continues to turn her head and sniff, likely still picking up the smell of her father or wishing it was still there.
I’ll call him first thing tomorrow morning and tell him of Peter. I’m sure he will want to come immediately because he’s a normal father. He’s not the king. He doesn’t live his life with the rules that my father does. If Peter had a pup, I’d want to know as soon it was born.
I climb out of bed, and Cora looks up. “I need to go to my office to take care of something,” I tell her. “There’s an emergency at a pack that I need to handle.”
