“I like it here,” I smile as Peter latches onto me as we lie in bed. “They’re nice. It’s good to see a pack that’s doing well.”
Joseph nods as he climbs into bed on the other side of our son. “I agree. They seem to be doing well here. This isn’t a pack I’ve been to often.”
“Why?” I ask.
He shrugs. “King Franklin set his schedule, and I went only when he allowed. I think I’ve been here twice, which was part of the reason I thought it could be Joan. He would have kept me from her.”
“Why?” I ask. He looks at me in confusion, not understanding my question. “Why do you think he’d keep you away?”
