“I’m going to call the healer,” Prince Joseph says, holding my hair back again.
“I’m pregnant,” I remind him. “This is normal.”
He gently rubs my back. “I don’t think it is. You’re not keeping anything down.”
I feel a cool rag on the back of my neck and sigh. It probably wouldn’t hurt to have the healer check. “I don’t want the queen to think I’m weak.”
“He is ordered not to tell anyone anything,” he reminds me.
“Her order would override yours,” I point out.
He sighs as he helps me sit back and lean against the wall. “It’s a chance we have to take, Mate.”
I smile as he calls me mate. His earlier words have meant a lot. It’s a term of endearment for him, well, as much as he’s allowed to use in this dreadful place. Still, it makes me feel good.
