King Franklin still holds the queen by the throat when Healer Thomas returns. He averts his eyes quickly and locks in on mine, unwilling to acknowledge anything else that’s going on in the room.
“Here, Princess,” he nods as he hands me the first vial. “This should help with some of the pain. I also brought vitamin tonics for you. You can take one in the morning and one in the evening, but I’ll get them to Hazel for her to keep up with.”
I smile sadly. “Thank you,” I tell him.
This entire family is a disaster. I’m not sure if being mated into it or working for it is worse, but I know we both feel the same way. This is ridiculous, and we’re both stuck here.
