The sun peeks around the edge of the drapes, pulling me from my sleep. I stretch and reach out for my mate, but he’s not here. I sigh as I remember that he went to Silver Moon for the alpha challenge. The information I gained from our phone call last night floods my mind. Alpha John willingly let us all starve. He was using the pack to get money for himself. Another Alpha was helping him.
I sigh deeply. I was deep in thought every time Peter woke last night about why John wouldn’t accept help from the Silver Moon pack. It doesn’t make sense. It’s not like the other packs didn’t know we were poor. He wasn’t keeping some kind of secret. I shiver at the thought. Someone tried to help, but he declined their offer.
Peter is sound asleep, so I quickly scurry to the shower.
