Eleanor stepped out of Jess's car, and looked around her surroundings. Her, Jess, Angela, and Bella had made plans to go to Port Angeles to look for prom dresses. Eleanor wasn't going to prom. She had no one to go with, and decided she'd have more fun at home, by herself.
Bella wasn't going either. Supposedly she was going to Jacksonville to visit her mum and stepdad, but Eleanor believed it was because Edward hadn't asked her. Bella had only tagged along to go to a book store.
"I like that one Jess!" Eleanor smiled at her twin.
Usually the girl wasn't a fan of hot pink, but when she saw her sister in her dress, she encouraged her to buy it, "that's my favourite one. It makes your boobs look good."
Jess nodded, excitedly, "that's what I was thinking!"
Eleanor turned her head when she heard pounding on the window. She scowled once she saw the boys peering in, whistling and winking at Jess and Angela. "That's disgusting."
"What do you think Bella?" The girls turned their attention to their new friend.
"I think they're all nice," she shrugged.
"You're not really into this, are you?" Angela asked.
"I just really wanted to go to this bookstore," she mumbled.
"I'll go with her," Eleanor said, "we can meet you guys at the restaurant."
Eleanor didn't want Bella walking around Port Angeles by herself. She knew that if it came down to it, she could protect the girl.
The both of them left the store, and began to walk in the direction of the book store, "what book are you getting?"
Bella sighed, "Jake was telling me about the Quileute legends, and I wanted to read more about them."
"Mhmm," Eleanor managed to hide her smirk. She had read some Quilete legends before, and now that she knew what the Cullen's were, she knew there was some truth behind the legends. She didn't know if she could believe in werewolves just yet, though.
Once they reached the book store, Bella gave El the name of the book, so she could help look. Eleanor walked left Bella in a different section, and began to search the aisles. She furrowed her eyebrows when she finished going through the aisles, and found nothing.
"Bella I couldn't fin-" she stopped her sentence short when she saw Bella standing at the counter, "never mind."
Bella chuckled, and collected her change from the cashier. Eleanor followed Bella out of the store. "Are you sure we should be walking down ally ways in the dark?"
"This is the only way to get back," Bella mumbled.
Eleanor tensed up when she saw a group of men turn down the ally they were in. Bella and El shared a look, before they both turned around and began walking back to the store, "boys, look what I found!"
"Oh God, Bella."
Eleanor cursed in her mind, and grabbed Bella's wrist, "calm down, El. Turn down that way."
She did what Bella instructed, and began to walk faster, "we should've called Jess to pick us up."
Eleanor's heart started beating faster when she heard the same group behind them. She knew they would catch up to them, but nudged Bella further when she saw an opening at the end of the ally.
A yelp escaped the girl's mouth when she felt a hand wrap around her wrist, "we got some pretty ones, here boys!"
El was scared. She was scared because her and Bella were trapped with a lot of drunk men, and she was was scared because she didn't know what she would do to them. She turned her head to Bella, and made sure she was okay, "let go of me."
The man holding her laughed, and leaned his head close to hers, "what're you going to do if I don't?"
She glared at him, and with a wave of her fingers, he let go of her before grabbing his head. She stared at him in shock as horrible images flashed through her mind, "what the hell did you do to me?"
Before Eleanor could answer, headlights flashed in her vision, and she looked over to see Edward slamming his car door shut. 'Oh thank God.'
Eleanor rushed over to Bella, and pulled her to the car. She let Bella take the front seat, and she slid in the back, "did you tell him we were here?"
Bella shook her head, her eyes trained on Edward's figure moving back towards the car. Once he got in, he put the car in drive and sped towards the boys, stopping just in time, then reversing the car and spinning out of there, "how did you know where we were? Were you following us?"
Eleanor already knew the answer, and rolled her eyes at Edward. He wasn't very good at staying away from Bella, "I should go back there and rip those guys' heads off."
"That's probably not a good idea," El scoffed, and Edward shot her a glare.
"You don't know the vile, repulsive things they were thinking!"
"And you do?" Bella challenged.
Edward hesitated for a moment, "it's not hard to guess."
Eleanor tuned out the rest of their banter, and leaned her head on the window, closing her eyes. Images of the stranger's worst fears popped into her head again, and she shuddered. Although she knew she could manipulate people's minds, she had never done it before, and was shocked that she could see it too.
Edward stopped in front of a small restaurant, and El looked up to see her sister and Angela come out the door, "guys! What happened to you? We thought you ditched us!"
"I'm sorry to keep them away from you this evening. We got to talking and lost track of time," Eleanor's friends looked up at Edward, and began to smile.
"Oh, it's totally okay," Angela giggled.
"I should probably make sure they get something to eat, if you don't mind." Edward looked towards Bella and Eleanor, who nodded at her sister.
"That's really nice of you," Jess smiled at Edward, "I'll see you at home, El."
Jess and Angela walked away giggling, causing El to roll her eyes. She followed Bella and Edward into the restaurant, and patiently waited to be seated.
Their food came out quickly, after they ordered. Edward sat across from Bella, eyeing her food with a scowl on his face, "are you really not going to eat?"
"Not hungry," he lied.
Eleanor rolled her eyes, and looked up at the vampire, "how did you know where we were?"
Edward glared at Eleanor, and looked over at Bella, "I feel very... protective of you."
"So you followed us," Bella raised an eyebrow, and took a bite of her soup.
"I-I was trying to keep my distance from you, unless you needed my help. But then I heard what those low-lives were thinking." Eleanor looked down at the table, and squinted her eyes shut.
"Wait," Bella looked between El and Edward, "you heard what they were thinking? So what you can read minds?"
Edward and Eleanor shared a look, "I can read every mind in here, apart from yours. There's um, money, s*x, money, s*x, cat. But with you, there's nothing. Very frustrating."
"Is there something wrong with me?"
Eleanor started to laugh, "Bella he just told you he could read minds, and you think you're the weird one?"
Bella only blushed.
