Waves crashed against the shoreline of La Push beach, and Eleanor smiled, softly. Her long brown hair flew around her shoulders, while her blue eyes took in the grey scenery. She always loved coming to La Push.
"Are you getting in the water, El?"
She turned her head to Eric, "yeah, I'm gonna wait for a little bit though."
Bella suddenly perked her head up, and Eleanor followed her eyes. She noticed 3 boys walking their way, and tilted her head. Once they got closer, she saw their long hair and tan skin, and realised they must be from the Rez.
"What are you stalking me now?" Bella hugged the boy in the middle, and he laughed.
"You're on my turf now, remember?"
Bella ignored him and turned to the group, "um, guys, this is my friend Jacob Black."
Jacob Black waved at them, "and this is Quil and Embry."
Eleanor smiled at the boys, "you guys should keep Bella company."
"Yeah," Jessica laughed, "cause her date bailed."
Eric shot her head up, and narrowed his eyes at Bella, "what date?"
"She invited Edward Cullen." Angela giggled, and nudged Jessica, who was smirking.
Eleanor rolled her eyes, "she was just being nice."
"Well the Cullens' don't come here," the boy Jacob introduced as Quil said, and Eleanor narrowed her eyes at him.
There was something about the way he said it that made Eleanor wonder if he had an idea of what they were. The boy met her eyes, and smirked. Eleanor shot him a glare, and stood up from her seat. "I'm going to change."
Angela followed her to the other side of the truck, and leaned against the door. She looked at the ground to give Eleanor her privacy. "Do you think Eric's going to ask Bella to prom?"
Eleanor looked over at her friend, "he'll probably try to, but I'm sure she'll say no. She doesn't seem interested in anyone but Edward. But, don't keep waiting for him to ask you, Ang. If you want to go with him that bad, ask him yourself. The worst he can say is no."
Angela nodded, "you're right."
Eleanor turned her back to Angela, "zip me up?"

"So can all of you read minds?"
Eleanor sat in the living room of the Cullen house. Alice, Edward, and Carlisle sat on the couch opposite from her. Alice had invited her over to learn more about the family.
"No, only me. We all have our own gifts." Edward stated, and El stared up at him, "for example, Alice has visions of the future. Jasper can control emotions. Rosalie is extremely beautiful, Emmett is physically stronger."
Alice cut him off, "Esme doesn't really have one, she's just extremely loving. And Carlisle has really good self control, that's why he works so well in the hospital."
Eleanor nodded, processing the information, "so only you, Edward, and Jasper have really cool powers. I mean Carlisle's is pretty cool too, but enhanced beauty?"
Edward chuckled, "don't let Rose hear you say that."
She raised her eyebrows, "can I ask you something?"
Alice and Carlisle leaned forward, while Edward narrowed his eyes at her. He had a feeling he knew what her question would be, "Bella. What's your deal with her?"
Edward sighed, and shared a look with Carlisle, "vampires have mates, if you want to call them that. I mean you know what a soul mate is, right? For vampires, it's different, kind of. You don't want to stay away from them."
"So why are you staying away from her?" Eleanor was confused. If Bella was Edward's 'soulmate' she couldn't understand why he would push her away.
"He doesn't want to hurt her," Carlisle said, and looked at his adopted son, "a lot of vampires push their mates away if they're human."
Carlisle studied the girl, and wondered if it was a good time to tell her or not. He didn't want to push too much on Eleanor, but he wanted her to know what she was. She looked up, and met his gaze, before blushing and looking away.
Alice smiled at the two of them, before she nudged Carlisle. He gave her a look, "we want to test your abilities, and see how powerful you are."
Eleanor's expression turned to one of uncertainty, and she stood up, "I'm not really sure what to do."
The vampires stood, and stopped Eleanor before she could do anything, "first we're going to go outside."
She chuckled, and followed behind her friends. Eleanor put distance between herself and the vampires, "okay, stand back."
"Just try to do what you did to Carlisle yesterday. Maybe to a tree instead," Eleanor rolled her eyes at Edward.
She glanced at the three of them, before bringing her hands up in front of her stomach. A ball of scarlet energy formed in her hands and she twirled it around slowly.
Eleanor moved her focus to the tree beside Edward, "okay, I'm not sure if you guys are killed by being staked or whatever, but maybe you should move in case pieces of wood break off, or something."
Carlisle smiled at his mate, and he eyed her hands. He knew she was probably serious, and motioned Alice and Edward to follow him.
Eleanor's hands raised and she spun them, before pushing her right hand forward, and sending the energy towards the tree.
She was right, she realised, as she watched her magic hit the tree. It split in the middle, and a few stray pieces of wood flew in different directions. "That was badass."
Eleanor looked over, and saw that the rest of the coven had joined the group. The group looked at her in awe, including Rosalie who had a look of surprise on her face.
"Do you want me to do more?" El asked, entwining her fingers in front of her stomach.
"You can if you want," Carlisle smiled, "don't push yourself if you're not comfortable."
Eleanor and Carlisle locked eyes, and exchanged small smiles. There was something between them that Eleanor couldn't describe. She felt something with him that she had never experienced before.
The previous conversation of mates popped into El's head, and she wondered if it was possible that she was Carlisle's mate.
She took her eyes away from Carlisle's, and put her arms out in front of her. The Cullen's watched as the human moved the scattered branches to a neat pile under the tree.
"Okay, I'm done."
