The waiting room was quiet. Even though it was the early afternoon, no one walked in or out of the hospital. Usually Eleanor didn't mind silence, but after the night she had, she needed a little noise. Her leg began to bounce up and down, and she started to chew on her nails. She was the only one in the room - besides the receptionist who sat behind the desk. Edward was in Bella's room, while Renee and Charlie were in the cafeteria. She assumed the rest of the Cullens' left, considering they were in a hospital with a lot of blood bags. She had turned her cell phone on right when she got to the hospital with Bella. Her phone pinged with several messages, and she had a few missed calls. She replied to all messages, except for the ones her mother sent. Eleanor didn't want her mum to scream at her over the phone, so she decided to wait until she got home to be punished. "Eleanor," Edward's voice disrupted the silence, and Eleanor turned to look at him. His face was void of emotion, but there was a slight edge to his voice. Eleanor wondered what happened inside Bella's room, "she wants to speak with you." Eleanor sighed and stood up, brushing her hands over her jeans. Edward held the door open for her, and led her down the hall to where Bella was staying. He walked away before Eleanor could open her door. She twisted the door knob, and slowly opened the door. She caught a glimpse of Bella on her bed, staring into space. Eleanor knocked on the door, and her friend turned over to her, "hey." "Hey. Are you feeling better?" El closed the door, and walked over to the chair next to Bella's bed. "Yeah, just still kind of freaked out," Bella chuckled, "I wanted to ask you something." "I figured." "Are you a vampire, too? You had p-powers," she stuttered. Eleanor smiled, and raised up her hand, twirling her fingers, "no, I'm not a vampire. I developed these when I was ten. I have no idea where they came from. This is how I found out what the Cullens' were, I got into Edward's head. They've been helping me control them." "You can get into his head?" Bella was amazed, "what else can you do?" "Mental manipulation, energy manipulation, telekinesis, and sometimes I can read minds if I focus myself enough," Eleanor explained, and dropped her hand back to her lap. "That's so cool!" "Yeah, it's alright," she breathed out, "I think I'd be happier without them." "Why?" "I'm just always so scared I'm going to lose control over them, and hurt someone who's close to me." Eleanor stared down at her lap, avoiding Bella's eyes, "the only reason I'm accepting them is because of Carlisle." "So are you two dating?" "No. It's not that I don't want to be with him - because I do. The age difference bothers me a little. If people find out, I feel like his career would be hurt because he's messing around with a seventeen year old." Eleanor explained, and shrugged her shoulder. Bella stared at her friend with a sad look on her face. She just wanted her to be happy, especially because it sounded like she had been pretty hard on herself for the past seven years. Eleanor sighed, and stood from the chair, "anyway, I'll send Edward back in. Feel better, Bells." Bella just nodded, with a smile on her face. --- "Is there a reason you've been ignoring my phone calls, Eleanor Louise?" Eleanor sat on the couch, and watched as her mum paced back and forth in front of her. She had tried to sneak upstairs when she first got home, but Mrs. Stanley stopped her in the hallway. The look on her face was enough to make Eleanor do anything she told her to. "I didn't want to cause any unnecessary worry?" Eleanor said it as a question, hoping that her mum would end this conversation, so she could sleep. She was exhausted. Her mum laughed, "you caused me more worry by not answering! I didn't have a clue where you were all night. You could've been dead and I wouldn't have had a clue." She looked down, suddenly feeling guilty. Eleanor hadn't thought about that, and she was grateful James hadn't done any damage to her, "I promise you it won't happen again." Mrs. Stanley sighed and sat down next to her daughter. She wrapped her arms around her, "I know. I'm letting you off the hook this time, because I know you were just trying to help Bella. But if it does happen again, there will be consequences." "Oh thank you. I love you mum," Eleanor smiled and squeezed her harder. "I love you, too." Eleanor hugged her for a moment longer, before she let go. She shot her mum another smile, before rushing up the stairs. Eleanor ran into her room, and shut the door before turning around. A scream escaped her lips, and she held a hand over her heart when she saw Carlisle sitting on her bed. "El? Are you okay?" Her mum yelled up the stairs. "Yeah, I just fell," she lied and walked over to her bed, "how the hell did you get in here?" Carlisle chuckled, "through the window." She narrowed her eyes, before crawling on the bed next to him, "have you done this before?" "No, first time. Edward does it all the time, so I thought I'd start doing it." "Well maybe you should text me before you appear in my bedroom. You scared the s**t out of me," she hissed. "I'm sorry," Carlisle laughed again, finding her anger amusing, "I'll be sure to tell you before I do it again." Eleanor smiled, and positioned herself to where she was lying on his chest. Carlisle moved his hands through her hair, and she sighed contently. She loved that they didn't need words to be happy in each others company. It made their time together more special in her eyes. "Are you going to the prom tomorrow night?" Carlisle wondered, briefly resting his hands in her hair. "One, keep doing that, and two, no. I didn't want to." "Why not?" He began to move his hands through her hair again. "I didn't feel like dancing around with a bunch of horny teenagers. I'd rather stay at home and watch netflix and drink tea." The vampire shook his head, as a small smile crept up on his face, "are you grounded? Come over to my house tomorrow night." Eleanor's mood suddenly plummeted, and she picked her head up from Carlisle's chest, "my God, did you hear what you just said? Are you sure you're okay with being with me? I'm seventeen and people here think you're in your thirties." Carlisle's hands reached out to touch her pale face, and he sighed, "I don't care what people think about us. I want to be with you, Eleanor. And who says we have to make ourselves public now? We could wait until you're ready. I just know that no matter what you decide I want you to be happy." His words made her heart swell and a small smile grew on her lips. Eleanor suddenly leaned forward and connected her lips to his. Carlisle let out a sound of surprise, and pulled back, "what're you doing?" "Carlisle, what does it look like I'm doing? I want to give us a chance." His smiled widened, and he leaned forward, connecting their lips together again.
