Bound by Desire

(Ariana’s POV) The fire crackled, shadows dancing across the walls of Damian’s private quarters, and for the first time since the rogues had attacked, I felt… calm. Almost safe. Almost like the world had stopped outside this room. I was sitting on the edge of the bed, the warmth of the fire brushing across my bare arms, while Damian unpacked some supplies for the night. His presence was everywhere—heavy, grounding, like gravity that I didn’t want to resist. I kept glancing at him, though I tried not to. His broad shoulders flexed beneath the dark fabric of his shirt, muscles moving with fluid precision even in mundane tasks. Every time I looked at him, I felt that same pull—the one I hadn’t been able to name before, but that my body recognized like an old, familiar rhythm. “Stop staring,” he said without looking at me. His voice was quiet but firm. “I’m not staring,” I said, trying to sound casual. My throat tightened anyway. He glanced at me, one eyebrow raised, and smirked. “Sure. That’s why your eyes follow me everywhere.” I flushed, biting my lip, feeling something ache in my chest. “I can’t help it,” I admitted softly. “I… I don’t know why it’s so hard to just… look away.” He finally turned to face me, stepping closer. The bond pulsed, thrumming under my skin like a drumbeat that echoed through my chest. Every nerve in my body tightened as if it were listening for his next move. “Because it’s not supposed to be easy,” he murmured. “I’ve wanted you for too long, Ariana. Every moment you pull away, every second you doubt—my wolf, my heart, it aches for you.” The words made my pulse race. I wanted to step back, to ground myself in reason, but my legs refused. I wanted to step into him, not away. “Then why—why did you make me wait?” I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. “Because I need you to choose me, not because you’re afraid or because you’re compelled,” he said, stepping closer, the heat radiating off him making my skin tingle. “I need you to want me. Fully.” And in that moment, I realized—I did want him. All of him. Every shadow and light, every danger and every promise. I stood, slowly, letting him see my intentions, and he mirrored me. The space between us dissolved as he stepped forward, hand brushing against my waist. “Do you?” he asked softly. “Yes,” I whispered, closing the final distance. His hands moved up to cradle my face, thumbs brushing over my cheeks, and he kissed me. Not soft. Not tentative. It was everything. Hungry. Deep. Claiming without taking. Full of the heat of suppressed desire and devotion. I wrapped my arms around his neck, letting myself sink into him, into the warmth, into the bond that pulsed between us. I felt him shiver against me, his control threatening to break. His hands tightened in my hair, in my waist, as if holding me together was the only thing keeping him sane. The firelight glinted off his eyes as he broke the kiss just enough to look at me. “Ariana… you feel that too, don’t you?” “Yes,” I admitted. “It’s… overwhelming.” “That’s the bond,” he murmured, pressing his forehead to mine. “It’s you and me. Entwined. And it’s only going to get stronger.” I swallowed hard, the heat of him making my body ache. I wanted him so badly it was almost painful. (Damian’s POV) Her scent hit me the moment she stood, firelight catching in her hair, her eyes reflecting the dancing flames. The bond pulsed violently beneath my skin, demanding. Needing. Claiming. Every part of me wanted to devour her. To make her mine completely. But I couldn’t. Not yet. Not until she chose me willingly. Still, the ache in my chest was unbearable. Watching her move toward me, the way her lips trembled as she whispered my name, I felt my wolf stir with anticipation, desire, and that fierce protective instinct that had ruled my life for years. “You feel it, don’t you?” I asked, brushing a stray curl from her face. “Yes,” she said, her voice trembling, filled with heat and vulnerability. “Everything.” I could feel it in every pulse of her body, in the tremor of her hands, in the warmth radiating from her skin. My wolf roared, my heart ached, and I realized that nothing would ever make me step back. She wanted me. She chose me. And I had to be worthy of her. I kissed her again, more deeply, more urgently, letting the bond surge. I could feel her hunger responding, her heartbeat syncing with mine. The room shrank around us until it was just her and me, firelight and shadows, and that pulsing, tethered magic that screamed that we were meant to be. Every kiss was a promise. Every touch was a warning. I whispered against her lips, “I’ve wanted this, wanted you, every moment you’ve been near me.” Her hands moved to my shoulders, pulling me closer. “I don’t want to hide it anymore,” she murmured. I pressed my forehead to hers, voice low and hoarse. “Then don’t. Show me.” And she did. (Ariana’s POV – Later) Hours later, we were on the floor in front of the fire, blankets wrapped around us, our bodies tangled in a warmth that had nothing to do with the fire itself. Damian’s hand traced over mine, over my shoulder, over my cheek, every touch leaving fire in its wake. “I’ve never felt anything like this,” I whispered, voice shaking with emotion. “Neither have I,” he admitted, holding me tightly. “And I don’t want to ever stop.” We spoke a little after that. Words felt unnecessary. Our bodies communicated everything the words could not: desire, protection, reverence, and passion. The bond pulsed between us, throbbing like a heartbeat of its own. Every brush of skin against skin made it stronger. Every whispered breath made it hotter, more consuming. And I knew, with terrifying clarity, that I was his. Not by force, not by obligation, but by something far older, far more powerful than either of us. Mate. (Damian’s POV – Later) I had never imagined that claiming someone could feel like this. Not just the physical pull, though that was overwhelming, but the way her presence settled into my chest, calmed my wolf, and yet stirred it to life at the same time. She had become a part of me, and I of her. The bond throbbed in my veins, pulsing with life and desire. I traced my fingers along her arm, letting my wolf hum with satisfaction. “You know,” I murmured, voice low, “if you weren’t my mate, I’d probably die for you anyway.” Her lips curved into a small smile, head resting against my chest. “Lucky for you, I am.” I chuckled softly, nuzzling her hair. “Very lucky.” Her laughter was soft, intimate, and it made something inside me ache with need. I kissed her temple, then her lips, slow, savoring, letting the bond flare gently with each touch. The pack could come, the world could threaten, the rogues could rise again… none of it mattered right now. Right now, she was mine. Fully. And I would protect her with every ounce of myself. (Ariana’s POV – Dawn) By dawn, we were curled together in silence, firelight fading to gray, the world outside slowly coming alive. I opened my eyes and saw Damian’s silver eyes watching me, awake before me, body relaxed but alert. “You slept?” I whispered. “I was waiting for you,” he said softly. “I could stay like this forever,” I admitted. “You can,” he replied. “Forever starts now. With me. With us.” I nodded, feeling the bond pulse beneath my skin, warm and certain, and I realized that I had never been safer, never been more desired, and never been more in love. The Alpha had claimed me. But this time, it wasn’t about possession. It was about choice. And I had chosen him.
