:** --- The love of souls, my dear, How can I express it in words? Just say it once to me, I’d lay my life at your feet. Zarina’s mother, seeing them suddenly, got startled and said, “What happened? Why did you come back from school today? Look at all this dust and dirt!” Zarina replied, “Nothing, just… some reckless guy sped by in his car and covered us in dust.” Sweep: “Some rude jerk!” Zarina’s mother: “Take a bath and change your clothes. And from now on, take the other street—it’s cleaner.” Zarina was still fuming with anger. Sweep and Japleen, with great difficulty, managed to calm her down. The whole day, Zarina kept seething about that car driver. She muttered to herself, but there was nothing she could do. Every evening, Zarina would go with her friends to the Gurudwara and then to the Samadhi. Today, as Zarina and her friends came out of the Gurudwara and headed toward the Samadhi, Manveer was there too. He had come to the Gurudwara with his grandmother. As Zarina was chatting with her friends while coming out, one of her friends noticed the same car from the morning parked outside the Gurudwara. Pointing toward it, she drew Zarina’s attention. Seeing the car, she said, “That’s the same car that passed by this morning!” The moment Zarina saw it, her blood boiled, and she turned red and yellow with rage. Zarina told her friends to stay there and started walking toward the car. Her friends tried to stop her, but Zarina’s anger had reached the seventh sky. She quickly strode toward the car, with her friends following close behind. Zarina approached Manveer, who was standing near the car. Sweep and Japleen were trying to hold her back, but she wasn’t about to stop. Zarina asked Manveer, “Is this your car?” *Your presence feels like the gentle bubbles of a cool breeze, my beloved. You don’t know how special you are to this heart, my beloved.* Manveer saw Zarina for the first time and was instantly captivated. Her fair complexion, graceful figure, cat-like eyes, and flowing black hair—she looked like a fairy. Manveer was lost in deep thoughts, gazing at her. His attention was solely on Zarina, staring at her with unwavering eyes. Zarina asked again, “Hello! I’m asking you something! Is this your car?” Manveer: “Yes, it’s mine.” “What happened?” Zarina: “Were you driving it this morning too?” Manveer: “This morning? When?” Zarina: “You forgot so quickly? You’re saying ‘this morning, when?’” Zarina’s friends were trying to calm her down, but her anger had soared to the seventh sky. Zarina started speaking to Manveer loudly. But Manveer just kept staring at her with fixed eyes. Zarina was talking, but not a single word came from Manveer’s mouth in response. Her beauty had left him speechless. Zarina kept talking, while Manveer just gazed at her face. Sweep and Japleen grabbed Zarina by the arm and dragged her away. Their attempts to quiet her were in vain. Manveer kept staring at Zarina. As long as she was in his sight, he couldn’t take his eyes off her. *Your eyes hold diamonds, an entire universe resides in them. The blush on your face tells so much. It takes my breath away, my dear, When you smile with that sweet, shy laughter.* To be continued… ---
