OFFICER ROGER DORSETT UNWRAPPED his fourth McDonald’s cheeseburger while his partner, Officer Mandy Toboggan, tried to avoid the unpleasant sight of Dorsett devouring his food. “Want some fries?” Dorsett asked Toboggan, spitting bits of burger as he spoke. “No thanks.” Mandy had already finished her lunch – granola and yogurt. The officers were taking their usual lunch break in Confluence Park, a picturesque location at the convergence of Cherry Creek and the Platte River.
