Chapter 18

1245 Words

MANDY TOBOGGAN CRACKED OPen a Diet Coke can and settled into her black leather couch to binge-watch “The Circle” on Netflix. Inane reality shows were the officer’s guilty pleasure. The sound of hail pelting her apartment rooftop nearly drowned out the TV. “I can’t believe no one knows you’re a catfish!” Mandy yelled to her TV, annoyed at the absurdity of “The Circle’s” contestants. After two hours of mindless television, Mandy began to doze off on her couch. Her two-year-old tabby, Cannibal, climbed across Mandy’s body, kneading her Denver Broncos sweatshirt before curling into a ball on her chest. Mandy’s dachshunds, s***h and Eddie, who were deathly afraid of Cannibal, were asleep on their normal resting place, Mandy’s king-sized bed. This was a typical night at Mandy Toboggan’s home.
