MATTEOPOV
“There is too many...the werewolves have been after her. Ada search records in France for homes owned by known wolves that don’t use them,” Jeremy says gruffly.
Ada nods and continues her work. I pace back and forth. The dull ache of Rose’s pain had faded. I could hardly feel her. My heart twisted painfully. I couldn’t lose her. I couldn’t lose her before I truly had a chance to have her.
To love her.
We were trying to find secluded locations in the mountains where the witch could’ve taken Rose, but it was proving difficult. We had seen evidence pointing to the witch working with werewolves from the smells in the garden, and that had helped some, but it was still a massive undertaking.
An icy chill rolled over me all of a sudden, and I froze. The cold inside me was almost unimaginably bearable. I hear Marianne shout, and someone lowered me into a chair as my knees buckled. I felt like I was outside my body. I couldn’t see, or hear anything.
Then warmth. Not just any warmth. Her warmth. Seemed to ingulf me. I could smell her all around me, and in the back of my mind I heard a single, shaking word, like a whisper from a ghost.
Matteo.
My eyes flew open, “Get a helicopter.”
“What?” Jeremy said, confused.
He met my green eyes, and with utter confidence I nodded, “Get a helicopter. I know where she is.”
------
Within two hours, a helicopter was landing on the lawn in front of us. One of Jeremy’s employees was driving it, and he knew better than to ask questions. I instructed both Jeremy and the pilot on where to go and we took off. My eyes scanned the mountains we flew over. There was a few scattered buildings, but my heart clenched when I saw a specific, imposing castle.
A hiss escaped me, and with a nod towards the driver, Jeremy instructed him where to take us down.
As soon as my feet hit the stone courtyard, I could smell her. I inhaled deeply, the stench of her blood in the air, and I grit my teeth, my eyes turning black.
“Be cautious, brother,” Jeremy said, crouching behind me, “I smell two witches.”
We crept rapidly through the courtyard, and through the halls, following my nose to find her. The smell of her blood in the air was so thick I could almost taste her...I closed my eyes, shaking myself slightly.
We broke into a large room, the stones covered in blood.
Her blood.
“Well! Maybe this is how we’ll get the young witch to talk...I truly am surprised you found us so quickly,” a dark haired witch chuckled from across the room.
I growled, hunching over slightly, and Jeremy did the same beside me. She seemed proud of herself. Proud of hurting my Rose. Another growl left me and she smirked.
“She is so, so strong, you know. She could kill you just by looking at you. She could create storms that would overturn mountains,” the witch said, pursing her lips.
I could see the envy there. The anger.
“She could kill all three of us in this room without batting an eyelash, but because of you,” she hissed, pointing a finger towards me, “Her magic is only leaking out of her. If the wolf had found her, I would have taken her already. I would’ve killed her.”
Her fingertip started to quiver, and her lips opened slightly, “Say your goodbyes to your mate.”
“Magic!” Jeremy roared, before pushing both of us to the ground. I saw red.
I lunged at her, as she seemed to move in slow motion. The last thing I saw was the fright in her eyes before her head left her body. I heard Jeremy whistle behind me, but I didn’t respond, sniffing the air. My eyes closed in on the trapdoor in the center of the room, and I threw it open.
Her smell hit us like a wave, and I saw Jeremy’s eyes darken, as he slunk forward, licking his lips. This time I lunged at him, pushing his away. He was thrown to the other side of the room before he flashed back into a crouch, growling at me.
“She is mine, brother,” I hissed, crouching in front of the trapdoor, trying to protect her.
“I can smell her blood,” he responded with a growl, “I just need a taste…”
My roar filled the air, and I lunged at him again. We fought for a few moments before I finally slammed him against the stones, hovering above him.
“She is my mate, Jeremy,” I growled at him, “You know the punishment for touching her.”
Jeremy paused for a moment, and I saw his blood lust dissapate, finally letting him go. He left to inform the pilot to land, and without hesitating, I jumped into the darkness beneath me.
I hit the ground on all fours with a soft thud. It was so dark down here, even my eyes couldn’t see. I could feel her precense close. I closed me eyes, and listened. I heard a shuddering breath to my right, and I was on her in a second. My hands found her, and I was shocked to find her almost naked.
Covered in blood.
“Oh, mio fiore,” I whispered, as I wrapped my arms around her, but she instantly let out a heartwrenching scream.
“Please…” she whimpered, “D-don’t hu-hurt me.”
My heart clenched, and my eyes swirled with emotion. I should have tortured that witch.
“Shhh, it’s okay Rose, I”m here,” I whispered, before using my strength to jump out of the hole.
I did my best to not allow it to jostle her, but it did, and she shrieked again.
“Please,” she croaked again, her eyes tightly shut, unable to adjust back to the light yet, “Make it stop..”
I sighed, and pierced my thumb with my teeth, before rubbing it gently over her own parched lip. After a moment, her fragile, broken body relaxed in my arms.
I approached Jeremy, rushing quickly out of the building, “Her injuries are substantial, we have to get her back. Tell Ada to prep our room with any medical equipment we have.”
Jeremy didn’t awnser, and I saw his eyes looking upon my mates almost naked form in my arms, and I turned slightly, a growl leaving me. The look in his eyes was not the blood lust that had been there before, no this was a lust I knew all to well. Even torn, bloodied, and bruised, no man could deny her lavish curves, or the significant rise of her breasts.
He shook his head, confusion in his eyes. He didn’t say anything, but followed me into the chopper, before sending a quick text to Ada and Elisa.
When we returned to the manor, I flashed upstairs with her, where Marianne let out a horrified yelp. Ada’s face paled, and even Elisa seemed to have to look away.
“Cosa le ha fatto quella strega?” she growled, stepping forward to stroke away some of the matted red hair across her face.
It was so strange, but her wildfire hair was even redder, the more muted strands had become more vibrant. Even in this state, she was so beautiful. Suddenly I noticed her shaking in my arms, almost convulsing.
“We need to bathe her, to clear her injuries,” Marianne said firmly, meeting my eyes, “It will hurt her. You should leave.”
I growled, bringing the shaking woman in my arms closer to me, and she let out a strangled cry. My arms loosened slightly, and I looked down at her, wincing at the thought that I had caused her any pain.
“I can’t,” I said, my own voice hoarse.
“You must son, Marianne and Ada will help her. You are in to much of a protective state,” Elisa said firmly, “You will stay with Jeremy and I.”
I hesitated sightly, before nodding, and Ada help her arms out for her. I gently manuvered her into Ada’s awaiting arms, when she whimpered again, her hands seeming to grasp for me. I left the room without another glance.
Without another touch.
Jeremy and I came to blows again on the front lawn. I'd do anything to distract from her screams.
