Jacob scowled when he saw her try to push her hair out of her eyes. Pulling the knife from his boot, he walked over and motioned for her to raise her hands. He slid the blade between thin rope and sliced upward. Bending to replace the blade, he took her wrist in his hand and rubbed on the faint red marks. His eyes connected with hers as he lifted her right wrist to his lips and pressed a kiss to the reddish line marring her skin.
