The evaluation was like déjà vu. Being ushered through the hallway like sheep, orders barked over our heads by Ravens in blue uniforms, not knowing what to expect. Except we’d been through this before. I glanced around, searching for Flavia. I still wasn’t used to her new hair colour and it took me a moment longer to recognise my friend than usual. Unlike me, she looked perfectly calm. Not alarmingly calm but… normal. Like the others. She certainly knew how to remain composed whereas I felt like I was a jittery mess. She noticed me looking at her and mouthed at me. “Stay. Calm.” Easier said than done. I gathered a deep breath, trying to focus on the sounds around me to ground myself.
