The next morning, I awoke in a warm nest of blankets and covers. I stared up at the tent, taking in the world around me. So this hadn’t been a dream.
I turned on my side and found Ryoko asleep next to me, her mouth slightly open as she snored softly. Nonetheless, she was a sight for sore eyes.
Gently, I reached out to touch her arm. Just to make sure she was real.

Not wanting to get up yet, I listened to her breathing as I allowed the comforts of home to reinvigorate me. I should have never left in this ridiculous quest to get my powers back. So what if I couldn’t be a Valkyrie? At least I’d be alive and I’d be with Ryoko. There were much crueler fates out there.
