Torn between euphoria and guilt, my emotions waged battle inside of me. It felt so good but it shouldn’t. I was an awful person, I just killed a man. This was amazing, I just saved so many people. I was the worst, I was the best. I was so preoccupied that I noticed it too late. Var standing in front of the black fire, his hand held out into the flames. It took me a moment to jolt into action and I charged forward to stop him, but it was too late. The fire bit into his hand, turning it into smoke. “Var, don’t!” I screamed but he ignored me.
