Chapter 4: Transfer Records

Aria..." The man voices sounded so broken as he called her name

'So he even knew her name' This shook Aria more.

"Why are you here!?" Aria asked, with her sunken sky blue eyes with dark circles under them raising her voice, she couldn't believe the man who abandoned her for years was here, at her mom's burial

"Aria" Richard Dawson tried to move closer to her.

"No!" Aria moved back raising her finger as a warning for him not to come closer

"Aria please just one chance to explain myself, I know you think I abandoned you, but believe me I didn't, I can explain everything that happened if you just give me a chance to talk"

"A chance!? You abandoned me and mom for years. Not once in those years did you think of me. I worked and worked to fund myself through school because I had no one to do that, mom has been ill- stricken, she couldn't work anymore. Maybe if you had been responsible towards me maybe my mom would have still been alive"

That last sentence made her choke on her words, as her eyes watered instantly. Rowan beside her was shocked because she hasn't spoken this much or opened up about her feelings.

Richard Dawson lowered his head down, he was feeling ashamed but he still moved closer to her.

"Aria for the sake of your mother Iris and God, just this once and I promise never to disturb you again" His voice sounded pitiful.

Aria kept her face turned to the other side refusing to look at him. After almost a minute and suddenly she sighed and turned to look at him back.

"Okay" She decided she would hear what he had to say especially after hearing her mother's name, she didn't want to get angry at her mom's funeral.

Richard smiled, his face showing relief that at least she gave him a chance

"Can we go talk in my car?" Richard Dawson said

Hearing that Rowan didn't trust this man at all. He already had different thoughts about him.

"Aria, I don't trust this man" Rowan muttered frowning at Richard.

" Don't worry as long as you're here, nothing is going to happen to me" Aria said gently forcing a smile.

She followed Richard to his car. She was surprised to see a window tinted luxury black Range rover with a bodyguard who bowed before opening the door. Once this door shut they were the only ones inside.

"Aria I'm really sorry about what happened to your mother"

Aria didn't say anything she looked down and fiddled with her hands

"I just want you to know that I didn't abandon you guys. When your mother and I divorced, she gained custody of you and she developed a deep hatred for me, she won't even let me see you or take care of you. She rejected every amount I sent for child support even though the court ordered me to pay"

Aria looked up and stared at him with disdain and disgust "Why are you lying? My mom would never do that"

"Aria I have evidence of me sending money to your mom, I have all the transfer records printed out, and on my phone, in case a day comes like this"
