"You coward! Come out, Adriana! Let’s settle this once and for all!" Kesha’s voice pierced through the morning air, sharp and venomous, as if each word carried the weight of her seething anger. The pack members, who had gathered to start their day, froze in place. Conversations halted, heads turned, and the tension in the air became palpable. Kesha stood at the center of the clearing, her piercing green eyes blazing with fury. She was dressed in her usual combat gear, as if she had anticipated this moment. Her fists were clenched so tightly that her knuckles gleamed white, and her chest heaved with every breath she took. Adriana, still inside one of the pack houses, heard the commotion. She sighed and placed the book she had been reading onto the table. "What now?" she muttered under her breath, already knowing exactly who was responsible for the chaos outside. Ryan, who had been standing near the doorway, tensed immediately. He turned to Adriana, his face pale. "It’s Kesha. She’s here... and she’s calling for you." His voice wavered slightly, betraying his unease. Adriana raised an eyebrow, her expression calm but her eyes betraying a flicker of irritation. "Of course it’s her. She really doesn’t know when to quit, does she?" Ryan stepped closer, lowering his voice. "Adriana, listen to me. Don’t go out there. She’s not just angry—she’s looking for a fight. You know how strong she is. This isn’t worth it." Adriana shot him a sharp look. "Not worth it? Ryan, she’s been gunning for me ever since I joined this pack. She’s humiliated me in front of everyone, spread lies about me, and now she’s out there screaming like a maniac. Do you really think I’m just going to sit here and let her keep doing this?" Ryan hesitated, his jaw tightening. "I’m not saying you should let her get away with it. But fighting her—" He stopped mid-sentence as the sound of Kesha’s voice echoed again. "Adriana! Are you that pathetic? Too scared to face me? Or maybe you’re hiding behind Ryan like the weak little pup you’ve always been!" Kesha’s taunt rang through the clearing, drawing gasps and murmurs from the onlookers. Adriana’s eyes darkened. She stood, brushing past Ryan. "I’m not hiding from anyone," she said, her voice icy. "If she wants me, she’ll get me." "Adriana, wait!" Ryan grabbed her arm, his grip firm. "You don’t understand. Kesha isn’t just angry—she’s dangerous. She’s been training for years. She’s one of the strongest werewolves in the territory. You can’t just—" Adriana pulled her arm free, glaring at him. "I can’t just do what, Ryan? Defend myself? Stand up for myself? Maybe you think I’m weak, but I’m not the same girl you used to know." Ryan opened his mouth to argue, but Adriana had already turned away, heading for the door. He cursed under his breath and ran a hand through his hair, frustration evident on his face. The moment Adriana stepped outside, all eyes turned to her. Whispers rippled through the crowd as they took in her calm demeanor. She walked toward Kesha with measured steps, her expression unreadable. "Well, well," Kesha sneered, crossing her arms. "Look who finally decided to show up. I was starting to think you’d run off with your tail between your legs." Adriana stopped a few feet away from her, meeting Kesha’s gaze without flinching. "You wanted me. Here I am. What’s your problem this time, Kesha? Did I breathe wrong? Exist too loudly for your liking?" The crowd chuckled nervously at Adriana’s words. Kesha’s lips curled into a snarl. "Don’t act like you don’t know. You’ve been cozying up to Ryan, haven’t you? Trying to steal him away from me like the little snake you are." Adriana blinked, genuinely taken aback. "Ryan? Are you serious? First of all, he’s not yours to steal. Second, I have no interest in him. Whatever issues you have with Ryan, leave me out of it." "Don’t play dumb!" Kesha snapped, stepping closer. "I’ve seen the way he looks at you. And don’t think I’ve forgotten how you humiliated me in front of the pack last month. You think you’re so much better than me, don’t you?" Adriana tilted her head, her voice calm but firm. "I don’t think about you at all, Kesha. You’re the one who’s obsessed with me." That did it. Kesha exploded, her voice rising to a roar. "Enough! I’ve had it with you! You think you can just waltz in here and take everything from me? Fine. Let’s settle this. Right here. Right now." Adriana’s eyes narrowed. "You want to fight me?" Kesha smirked. "What’s the matter? Scared?" Adriana took a step forward, her voice steady. "I’m not scared of you, Kesha. But if this is how you want to solve your problems, fine. Let’s do it." A murmur of excitement swept through the crowd as they realized what was about to happen. Ryan pushed his way through the onlookers, panic written all over his face. "Adriana, don’t do this!" he pleaded. "You don’t know what you’re getting into!" Adriana ignored him, her focus entirely on Kesha. The two women squared off, their eyes locked in a silent challenge. "Are you sure about this?" Kesha asked, a wicked grin spreading across her face. "I don’t want you crying when you lose." Adriana smirked, her voice low. "You should worry about yourself." The fight began in an instant. Kesha lunged forward, her movements swift and precise. She aimed a powerful strike at Adriana’s head, but Adriana ducked just in time, spinning out of the way. The crowd gasped at her speed. Kesha didn’t relent. She attacked again, her claws slashing through the air. Adriana dodged and countered, landing a sharp kick to Kesha’s side. Kesha stumbled slightly but recovered quickly, her expression a mix of anger and surprise. "Not bad," Kesha admitted, wiping a trickle of blood from her lip. "But you’ll have to do better than that." Adriana didn’t respond. She was focused, her movements fluid and controlled. For every attack Kesha launched, Adriana had a counter. It was as if she anticipated Kesha’s moves before they happened. The pack watched in stunned silence. No one had expected Adriana to hold her own, let alone fight back so effectively. Even Ryan, who had been ready to intervene, stood frozen in shock. "She’s... different," one of the pack members whispered. "Stronger. Faster." "How is this possible?" another murmured. "Adriana was never this good before." Ryan’s mind raced as he watched the fight. He couldn’t deny it—Adriana was different. Her movements were sharper, her reflexes quicker, her strength undeniable. It was as if she had undergone a transformation overnight. Kesha, on the other hand, was growing more frustrated with each passing moment. She had expected to overpower Adriana easily, but now she was struggling just to land a hit. Her pride was wounded, and her anger boiled over. "You’re going to regret this!" Kesha snarled, her voice trembling with rage. She shifted into her wolf form, her massive figure towering over Adriana. The crowd gasped again, and Ryan stepped forward. "Kesha, stop! This isn’t—" "Stay out of this!" Kesha growled, her voice deeper and more menacing in her wolf form. "This is between me and her." Adriana took a deep breath, her expression calm. Then, to everyone’s shock, she shifted as well. Her wolf form was sleek and powerful, her fur a striking shade of silver that seemed to shimmer in the sunlight. The crowd fell silent. Even Kesha hesitated for a moment, her confidence wavering. Adriana’s wolf form was unlike anything they had seen before. There was an aura of strength around her, something almost... otherworldly. The fight resumed, fiercer than before. Adriana’s newfound strength and speed were on full display as she matched Kesha blow for blow. The clearing became a blur of fur and claws, the sound of their growls echoing through the trees. By the time the fight ended, Kesha was on the ground, breathing heavily. Her wolf form was battered and bruised, and she shifted back to her human form, her expression one of disbelief. Adriana stood over her, her silver fur glistening with sweat. She shifted back as well, her breathing steady. Her eyes met Kesha’s, and for a moment, there was silence. "I told you," Adriana said quietly. "I’m not the same girl you used to know." Kesha glared at her, but there was no denying the truth. Adriana had won. The crowd erupted into whispers, their shock and awe evident. Ryan approached cautiously, his face a mix of relief and confusion. "Adriana... how did you...?" Adriana turned to him, her expression unreadable. "I don’t know," she admitted softly. "But.. “
