Chapter Eight: Million Reasons

Alpha Lachlan Gideon     Rowena turned to Rebecca and snapped her fingers and the chains holding her disappeared. Rebecca collapsed from the pain and whimpering. Rowena stepped forward in an awkward attempt to comfort her. Rebecca shook her head, crouched over, then shifted.  I took the time to look around the dungeon. It looked like a bedroom. I remember what Rowena said when she first arrived at my packhouse. This was her bedroom for nine years. My mate lived in a windowless cage. She had plenty of books, tv, and a computer. No outlet in the room, so I don’t know how she used them. I walked over to her bed and sat down. It must be made out of stone or something because it’s as hard as a damn rock. I was gripping the bed so rough. It broke in half. I was disgusted. I was wrathful. I wanted to kill that disgusting woman that calls herself my mates mother but not before making her suffer through infinite torture. Suddenly I felt a hand on my shoulder followed by sparks tingling through my body. I calmed down and took a deep breath. I pulled her into me and nuzzled my nose into her neck just where I would mark her. She gasped, “You seem different.” She raised one eyebrow, “I thought you’d never come back and I didn’t like it. You took my soul with you. You're not allowed to leave me again.” I said seriously. She smiled at me and snuggled closer. Rebecca cleared her throat and Rowena stepped back, embarrassed. She was all healed and had shifted back but was now naked.  Rowena's eyes widened and she was not embarrassed anymore, just mad. No, not mad, oh my little Demigoddess is jealous. Her eyes went to mine immediately and softened when she noticed I was staring at her and not Rebecca. She snapped her finger and another Witch cloak appeared. She must have realized something because she grabbed my hand and ran out of the room. Back to where her brother lied, he now had the same handcuffs Rowena and Rebecca had on his wrist. He was bleeding from the mouth. His sinister smile was bloody. He must have said something telepathically to her because she jolted and narrowed her eyes. Her fist curled into a ball, and she leaned slightly forward. He smiled bigger and she gasped. He looked down at his wrist and barked out a laugh, “This won’t hold me for long, Witch. I know how far along you are in the craft. You haven’t covered Demons yet. Cecile and I did that on purpose.” He smirked. Who the f**k is Cecile? Why the f**k is everyone so twisted here? Her mother isn't her mother and her brother isn't her brother. I saw Phoenix dead when I arrived earlier. Something big is at play here. The High Priestess has been deceiving us all. This is just so f****d up. I want to help my mate, but I'm not a match for a Demon and Witch. How am I going to save my mate? Severus growled in my head,  'You're an Alpha. Start acting like it. Werewolves were created to fight Demons. We will leave the Witch to our Luna, who you have to start trusting and has proven herself to be more than capable. She can do it. I know it and you know it too.' He snapped, “You’re right. I haven’t learned anything about Demons, but I read a lot and watch tv. I could be wrong, but I feel like this one might be true. ” Rowena challenged, “You’re going to use something you learned off of TVs and books. Oh, this should be so good.” I was a little concerned, “Shift just your claw.” I did as she asked. She looked at me and smiled. She opened a portal and motioned for Rebecca to go to the other side. Right before she walked in, she grabbed her arm and whispered something in her ear. Rebecca nodded, hugged her and stepped through the portal. Rowena grabbed my hand and cut her palm, just enough to draw blood. She turned around and ran the blood across his bloody mouth, “I don’t know much, but I know a name is a powerful weapon, ’ Blood to blood I bind thee,  Demon Azazel I bind you to me. Blood to blood I bind thee, Demon Azazel I bind you to me. Blood to blood I bind thee, Demon Azazel I bind you to me.’  He dropped to his knees and screamed.  “Get up and walk through the portal.” He did what she said.  We followed him. Once we were through, I noticed we were in the dungeon. Rebecca was there waiting by a cell. Rowena pointed towards the room and the Demon walked towards it. As soon as he was close, he grabbed Rebecca by the throat, and her eyes changed colours as if she was aroused. “LET HER GO!” Rowena yelled. He dropped her immediately and she waved her hand and flung him into his cell. She grabbed something from Rebecca, then walked in and poured salt all around the perimeter of the room. Once outside, she poured extra salt by the door. She smiled at him and crossed her arms, looking triumphant, “ You will not harm another while I control you, Demon. You will sit here until I can figure out how to get my brother back.” Rowena mumbled. I mind-linked the Omega’s to get all the stuff in Rowena's room and put it in my room, our room. I walked back to Rebecca and Rowena, who were talking and looking back at the Demon/ her brother, “It makes sense. Actually, I feel connected to you, Becca, the same way I feel connected to the Alphas siblings. I think we have a connection because their my mate's family. Maybe you couldn’t tell when you first met because his body is my brother, but it's not his soul in control. I want to tell you something if I do find a way to de-possess him, I don’t think he will be normal. He's had a Demon in his body for at least four years, if I have to guess. That's when he changed and became cruel. Started whipping me too. He might not be a very good mate.” I heard her say. “Maybe you might be right. If he comes back all wrong, I’ll help him if he lets me.” Rebecca hugged Rowena, “I don’t know about you two, but I am exhausted, so I will be going to shower and hit the sack. Thank you both for risking your lives to save me. I don’t deserve it, but I definitely appreciate it.” She bowed formally to me and left. Rowena turned to her brother with a sad look on her face,  “This is all my fault,” she whispered, “It’s not, but we will find a way to fix it. Jax's mom has fought many Demons. She can help. She's not as powerful as you are, but she's the most knowledgeable woman I’ve ever met. She lives outside of town. I can take you first thing in the morning.” I offered, “Thanks, Alpha Gideon, but IT IS all my fault.” She whispered, “You can call me Lachlan if you want.” I winked at her, “I think I’ll stick to Alpha Gideon.” She half smiled, “Come on, we should both shower and go to bed too unless you're hungry or something?” I asked “No, a shower and my bed sounds nice.” She smiled. We walked upstairs and I watched her walk to her room. I was going to say something but thought it would be better if I let her figure it out, “Where's all my stuff? I bought so much stuff and it's gone! If you wanted me gone, all you had to do was say so. You didn’t have to throw out my stuff.” She pouted. I tugged on her bottom lip and forced her to look up at me. I stroked her cheek for a minute and looked into her eyes. I decided I would show her instead of telling her, so I grabbed her and swung her over my shoulder. She punched my back and shouted for me to put her down several times. I think if she really wanted out, she would have used her powers to free herself. She started squirming around, and her beautiful ass moving near my face was just too much.  I gave it a quick slap, and she went still. I walked her to my room quickly and plopped her on the bed. I motioned around the room to her stuff, and her eyes sparkled with joy. She looked like a kid in a candy shop like all her wishes had come true. Then her face went dark. She frowned and started collecting some of her things. I grabbed her by the hand and tried to stop her, but she flung me onto my bed. She crossed her arms and narrowed her eyes, “If you think I’m going to share a bed that you f****d other women in, you're out of your mind.” She pushed me away, “Hey, little one, look at me. I wasn’t thinking. I am so sorry. You deserve better than a used bed.  What if we go buy a new one together and for tonight we sleep on your bed? We will leave our stuff here and tomorrow, me and you. After we meet Jaxs mom, we will pick out a new bed?  New furniture even?” I begged. She wanted it. She smiled for a brief second before her facial expression changed, then she shook her head, “No.” She walked out. That was two weeks ago. She barely leaves her room and she is pushing everyone away except Rebecca. Evie was worried that it was her fault because she got captured and that being back at home triggered some nasty memories. I didn’t believe that. I know she experienced horrible things in that place, but she probably doesn't need a trigger to remember them. She had only been here two days before she went back. Severus hasn't spoken to me in almost as long.                                                                                             Demigoddess Rowena             It’s been two weeks and I still don’t know if  Azazel was telling the truth. He told me something I just couldn’t handle and I didn’t know what to do anymore. Becca is the only one I let around me. She knows something is up, but she doesn’t ask. She usually just sits quietly, waiting for me to create conversation, which is nice. I don’t really know what to say. I know that Skye, Mae, Evie, and Logan were upset, confused, and frustrated, trying to figure out why I was ignoring them. Each time they asked, I had no answer. How do I tell them I ruined their lives? If Lachlan didn’t want a mate before, he surely would not want one after learning the truth.  I spent most of my time in my room, only wandering when I knew I was alone or everyone was asleep.  I stumbled upon a closed-off hallway a few nights ago. I waited until the guards left and snuck inside. The carpets were older here than in the rest of the house and had different patterns, paint was chipped and the furniture had dust. At the end of the hall, there were these breathtakingly humongous Lapis Lazuli doors. I pushed the doors open and my heart dropped. Looking around, it was better kept than the hallway. It was a room made of pure crystal.  It was the most fantastic thing I’d ever seen. The bed was bigger than a King size mattress. I didn’t even know it was possible. I realized quickly that this was the Alpha and Luna’s bedroom and was slammed with guilt. I exited the room in a rush and tumbled into Logan, “How dare you enter a private space? You ignore us for two weeks and think it's okay to snoop? Evie thinks it is her fault, you know. How can you be so mean we just want to know if you’re okay, but you choose the w***e who f****d your mate as your comfort over us? What did we do wrong? What did Lachlan do? Did something happen while you were there, and you can’t talk to us? Just tell me I thought we were growing closer.” He spoke sullenly, “ I know you're angry, but don't call Becca a slut. She risked her life to spare me. She is also dealing with something that you can’t imagine. I will apologize to Evie it's not her fault. It’s none of your fault. I am going through something. I just need space. I like Becca because she allows me to sit in silence while you and your sibling bombard me with questions.” I stood up and started to walk away.  I was almost at the door when a picture of the family caught my eye. They were all there smiling, looking like a loving family. They were at a carnival and my heart dropped. In the background, there was little me. I realized Azazel was telling the truth.  Every time I saw one of the Gideon siblings, I was racked with unmeasurable amounts of guilt. It felt so suffocating. My ears would ring, my eyes blurred and my heart increased. It leads to me having an anxiety attack. Maybe I should just leave before they find out.  Logan picked up the picture,  “Lachlan used to smile a lot more back then. We all did, we were much closer and until that day, we had never experienced anything bad. Lachlan had been excited about finding his mate telling everyone how he would worship her in every way.” He took a deep breath, “It was the last time we went out as a family and it was the last time we would see our mom. She went out after we got home to meet up with some friends and was in a car accident. I didn’t think a werewolf could die from it, but the steering wheel crushed her chest and she could not shift to heal. After that, our father went crazy, beating on us, mostly Lachlan and we later found out he was r****g she-wolves, using the pack's money and making tons of enemies. Lachlan became really closed off after that and resented our father and the mate bond.” I gasped I didn’t know his father did those things, my poor mate and his family! What they went through because of me. I held his hand, not knowing what to say, when he suddenly narrowed his eyes and he pointed to the baby in the background. “Why are you in the background of this photo?” He asked suspiciously, I took the picture away and led him out of the room.  “I’m sorry, Logan,”  ‘Vim extermina, please forget the last minute’ turquoise sparks surrounded him. “What we were just talking about,” He asked, “I'll talk to Evie, I promise.” I ran away before I could hear his response. I turned the corner. I need to know if Azazel was  telling the truth about what he told me. I opened a portal, knowing I wouldn’t be able to walk there. I stepped through and walked right into Becca,  “Oh my fucken goddess, I am so sorry Luna, I came here to see your brother. I was hoping to maybe sit near him. If you want me to leave, I understand.” She looked nervous, “No, my fault I wasn’t paying attention. You can sit here if you want  I just have questions for the Demon. He said some things I don’t believe.” I grabbed her hand to calm her down.   We walked to the ends and that's when we heard moaning and the sounds of skin slapping against skin followed by moans and grunts . We walked over, through the cell bar Azazel was f*****g One while she was bent over the black mist surronds them, “What the f**k Mandy?” Rebecca cries. I wave my hands and force them apart. The Demon has a smirk and I looked down at his chains to see the markings starting to wear off! Mandy stared between the two of us and burst out laughing, “Guess I f****d both your mates then.” She flips her hair, Her blonde hair was faded, and she had bruises all over her body. She looked thinner than the last time I saw her and I would have felt bad for her if she wasn’t such a self-centered b***h. Becca had told me all about what she had done. She used a perfume from my grandmother that made her smell more intriguing to the Alpha. I never wanted to hit someone as badly as I wanted to hit her. She sat there with a satisfied look like she just lived for tearing down other women as if it made her somehow superior. She is the definition of insane. I can see in her eyes she still thinks she’s going to get away with this and somehow end up with the Alpha. She truly believes he is hers, “Always giving it away for free. I bet your mate rejected your stanky p***y. That is why you want  Alpha Gideon so bad! I liked her better when you turned her into a bunny. Can’t you do that to her again?” Becca snapped, “Isn’t this cute? You’re friends with a woman who was f*****g your mate? Better question, Do you think you’ll be enough for him after he had five women at a time? Do you think your virgin ass will satisfy him?” She snickered, “As if he will sleep with her once he finds out her little secret.” Azazel boomed, “I didn’t do anything wrong!” I snapped, “Oh like he’s going to care.  The mate bond is not going to protect you from his wrath when he finds out.” He smirks, “Oh s**t! He’ll come crawling back to me, One, his favourite bunny.” She smiles, “You’re wrong, Mandy. You didn’t see him with her the last time. Never once have I seen him give you that kind of affection. Plus, Sabrina told me everything, he knows what you did and you disgust him. Luna, she's just jealous.” She turns to me then turns back,  “Annnnnnddddddddd f*****g a Demon wearing my mate as a meat suit isn’t the same thing as f*****g my mate. It just confirms what I already knew about you. You’ll sleep with any creeper as long as it benefits you somehow.”  Azazel and Mandy laughed, “STOP IT! It wasn’t my fault it wasn’t. My grandmother did it, not me. I did nothing wrong.” I sulked, “ You know I’m right. Once the Alpha finds out, he’ll hate you. That’s why you came back, that’s why you’re here. You want to know exactly what happened. Your secret will be revealed.” “What secret? Is this why you’ve been avoiding me?” Alpha huffs. FUCKKKKKKKKK.
