CHAPTER TWO ~The Lecturer's Allure ~

1789 Words
The rest of the week had passed by so quickly, my anxiety levels sky rocketing as the day approached. The day I once looked up to; that's today, by the way. We're having Mr. Andrew's class yet again and am nervous. I walked into the class, my heart racing with anticipation. I couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions surge within my heart as I had been fantasising and imagining what we could have been throughout my holiday until he humiliated me in front of the entire class the last time. That condescending tone made me feel like a fool, and the memory of it still stung so deep. Pushing the painful thoughts at the back of my head, I took my seat, taking out my books as I got ready for his class regardless. He walked in soon after, starting off where he had stopped almost immediately; his voice firm and commanding. I couldn't help but feel a flutter in my chest when I looked up at him. The man looked more handsome than I remembered. He wore a tailored black suit, his crisp white shirt accentuating his broad shoulders. His dark beard was neatly trimmed with well-defined edges that framed his jawline, complementing his chiselled features. A slim grey neck tie added a touch of elegance to his outfit, and his dark hair was in perfect shape, that 'Aaron Pierre' haircut. His deep voice commanded attention as he spoke with authority, his words dripping with confidence. Before I knew it, I found myself hanging onto every word, mesmerised by the way he moved his hands as he spoke. He paced across the room, his long strides eating up the distance between us. His eyes scanned the room, locking onto mine for a brief moment. I felt a jolt of electricity run through my body, and I quickly looked a way, trying to compose myself. Girl, I was so captivated by him and couldn't understand why. I mean, hadn't he humiliated me the other day? yet as I looked at him now, I saw something different. I saw a man who was confident yet vulnerable. A man who was passionate about his work and passionate about life. From time to time, I sneaked glances at him throughout the lecture. The way he leaned against the desk, his hips c****d at a slight angle. The way he ran his fingers through his hair, his eyes narrowing in concentration. His beard slightly quivered when he spoke, drawing my attention to his lips, accentuating his words and adding emphasis to his already compelling lectures. Determined to make a good impression, I raised my hand, asking a thoughtful question that he answered as expected. It was at this point that I madeup my mind to talk to him after the lecture because I had fallen all over again, for a man I knew very well Was off-limits and had the power to hurt me all over again if he rejected my love. 'Never give up on something or in this case somebody you love' and 'You don't just give up because the situation is not ideal'.....these quotations by Arianna Grande lingered in my mind at the moment, and so I made the choice not to give up on him no matter how long it takes...... Soon after the lecture, I lingered behind, hoping to catch his attention, and as other students filed out, I approached him, my heart racing. " Mr. Andrew!, may I have a word with you, please ?"......I asked, he nodded, his expression unreadable. I took a deep breath, trying to gauge his mood." I wanted to apologise for my late coming the other day, I know it was.....inadequate. " Mr. Andrew raised an eyebrow, his face still expressionless. "Inadequate?" I nodded, feeling a flush rise to my cheeks. " Yes! I realise now that it was out of line, and I assure you that I am committed to doing better, hence forth." He leaned back in his chair, steepling his fingers together. " I appreciate your willingness to learn and understand your mistakes, and I must say, I am a bit surprised by your apology. Most students wouldn't bother. " I smiled, trying to appear nonchalant. "I am not most students, sir!" Our eyes met, and for a moment, I thought I saw a flicker of interest, but then his expression hardened, and he looked away. " Once again, I appreciate your dedication, but we should get going now, don't you think?" I nodded, feeling a pang of disappointment. Maybe I misunderstood the situation. Maybe he wasn't interested in me at all. As I turned to leave, I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror on the glass window. my hair was mussed, and my cheeks were flushed. I looked......Vulnerable. I then heard Mr. Andrew's voice behind me."Wait." I turned back, my heart in my throat."Yes, please!?" He stood up, his eyes locked on mine. " I think we need to discuss your progress as far as my class is concerned. Would you be available to meet during my office hours tomorrow?" I nodded, trying to appear calm." Yes, of course. " As I left the classroom, I couldn't help but wonder if I had just sealed my fate or opened the door to something more. I couldn't believe it, I had been dreaming of this moment for what felt like an eternity, and now it was finally happening. I felt like I was floating on air. My mind was spinning with possibilities. I felt a sense of excitement and nervousness that I hadn't experienced in a long time. It felt as though I was a teenager who was crushing on some celebrity. I quickly pulled out my phone and texted my best friend, Almah. " OMG, you will not believe what just happened. " I typed so fast, my fingers flying a cross the screen. " Mr. Andrew just asked to meet me tomorrow....In his office! girl, I am going to be alone with him in there, ahhhhhhh! " I almost ran to the bus stop due to excitement as I waited for her response. I knew she would be just as excited as I was. We had spent countless hours discussing my crush on him, and I cried to her when he humiliated me the other day. Besides, she is the reason I crushed on him in the first place. I mean, she sent me countless of his videos and pictures while he still taught her last year. Maybe, just maybe, this was the start of something special. Maybe he felt the same way about me; that we're yet to find out. But the thought alone sent a shiver down my spine.......... I now stood in front of my closet, scanning my options for the perfect outfit. I had spent hours talking to Almah last night, and we had both decided that I needed to make a statement. I finally settled on a sleek black dress that hugged my curves in all the right places. The dress was knee-length with a subtle slit up the side that added a touch of sexiness. I then paired it with a pair of black heels that made my legs look long. As I got ready, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. I took a deep breath, grabbed my bag, and headed out the door. I soon got to campus and headed straight to Mr. Andrew's office, a surge of emotions, washed over me, and i felt a sense of nervousness, my hands sweeting profoundly. Once I was there, I knocked on the door, and Mr. Andrew's deep voice called out, "Come in." I pushed open the door and stepped inside..... Mr. Andrew looked up from his desk, his eyes locking onto mine. For a moment, we just stared at each other, the tension between us palpable. I noticed the way he looked at me......There was a subtle change, and I could sense a newfound intensity in his gaze. " Ah, thank you for coming, " He said finally, standing up and gesturing to a chair in front of his desk. " Please, have a seat." I sat down, trying to calm my racing heart..... Mr. Andrew sat down across from me, his eyes never leaving mine. " I wanted to talk to you about your performance in class," He said, his voice low and smooth. " You're so far one of the most active students in my class, and from the information I got, you've always been the best female student in your class. I must say I am impressed with your dedication and passion to study." I felt a sense of pride as I smiled, feeling a flutter in my chest. "Thank you, sir!" I said, trying to sound nonchalant. " I'm only doing what is expected of me. " He leaned back in his chair, steepling his fingers together as he smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. " I think you're doing more than just trying, " he said. As he spoke, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. Was he really saying what I thought he was saying? this all felt like a dream. And just when I thought that I had heard it all, he dropped the bombshell. " I was actually wondering if you'd like to work with me on a special project. " He said.....his eyes locked onto mine." It's something that could help you stand out in your field of study and probably shape your future ." I felt my heart skip a beat. A special project with him was an opportunity of a lifetime. " Yes, I'd love to," I said in the most calm way. Mr. Andrew smiled with satisfaction, his eyes gleaming with excitement. " Excellent, " he said, leaning forward, his eyes still locked onto mine. I could feel the heat emanating from his body, and my own heart began to race. " I want to push you to your limits," He continued, his voice dripping with intensity. " I want to see just how far you're willing to go." I felt a shiver run down my spine as he spoke. There was something in his eyes; something that seemed to burn with a fierce inner fire. " And if I'm willing to go that far?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. Mr. Andrew pulled back, making himself comfortable in his seat, his eyes gleaming with excitement. " I'll send you an email with the details then." With that, I left his office beaming with joy, wondering and imagining what the future held for the both of us.
