Akira Satou's POV
"Smile, babe. It's our wedding day."
I gave him a fake smile as I slid out to his silver Pagani Zonda. I made sure that he knew how false my smile was. One of these days I will borrow the key of his baby. It looked so fun to drive this thing, my hand itch to be behind the wheel of this car.
"Come, the mayor is waiting for us to perform our wedding ceremony, babe." Kaito said cheerfully as he placed his hand in my waist securely.
I glanced at his eyes that were obscure behind the pair of sunglasses. He's really devastatingly handsome man. I could not deny that every female outside the city hall stop and look at his wistfully. "As if, I have a choice."
"Oh, cheer up." He said annoyingly, guiding me to the entrance of the huge building. Once we were inside a woman efficiently dressed walked in our direction with
a smile on her face.
"This way please, Your Excellency."
"Wow, such precedence." I commented acidly as we follow the woman in the second floor of the municipal hall, probably our destination was the office of the mayor here.
I don't know if I would be surprised by the importance they gave him not that you could blame them. He was a prince, after all, that alone was enough for them to worship him to the ground.
I glanced at his confident stride as we walked in the hallways. I couldn't help but to remember my conversation to Asahi yesterday...
"It's me, Asahi." I said to a slightly unsteady voice when he finally answered his mobile phone. "I need to talk to you."
"*What is it, Akira? Your father said that you left without notice. Where are you?"
I closed my eyes as I stared at the enormous engagement ring that studded with diamonds. It glinted so much when it caught by the sunlight. "I'm in Osaka right now."
"Osaka!" Asahi said on the other line. "What are you doing there?"
"There's a slight mishap." I answered, swallowing hard. I don't know how to break the news to him that I need to call off our wedding tomorrow. "You see, when I runaway two months ago I had an affair to a man." I cleared my throat. "And that man, as you probably guessed by now was the father of my child. He mistakenly kidn*pped Aki in Sapporo thinking that she was me."
"What?"
I stared outside the beautiful mansion owned by Kaito and look at the garden. He left again because there was an emergency at his office. He reminded me firmly that it was futile to escape this place because his bodyguard named Reo was here to watch my every move.
"So it's only an automatic reaction to come here and save Aki and tell him that he got the wrong woman."
"Oh, is that so?" Asahi said with a sign of relief in his voice. "What do you want me to do? Do you want to postpone the wedding for a few more days? Until you get back here?"
I paced the bedroom nervously. I don't know how to break my bad news to him. I knew the reason of our union was completely heartless to other people. He needs my family money and I need a secure home for my unborn child.
I know what to expect from our union but now...
"Akira?" He inquired on the other line. "Are you still there?"
"Yeah," I took a deep breath as stared at the reflection in the mirror. "The thing is...we need to cancel our wedding all together, Asahi."
There was a long paused on the other line for a moment a thought he disconnected the phone call but then he spoke again in a sober voice. "Really?"
"I'm sorry," I told him with such regret in my voice. I looked at my sparkling eyes in the mirror while my lips were slightly puffy from a thorough kiss from a certain man in his garden in a broad daylight. "But he asked me to marry him, Asahi. He wants to marry me to give our child the family he deserves."
I heard the sighed he releases all the way from Tokyo.
"It's only a logical thing to do to marry the father of your child. I'm already half-expecting this from happening, Akira. I understand. I will tell our visitor about the news about our wedding."
I closed my eyes as I rub my forehead warily. He didn't deserve to be treated like this. I know that I didn't like him for my twin sister but that doesn't mean that I don't like him as a friend. I don't want him to face the humiliation alone, the scorn the Tokyo society would give him.
In addition to the embarrassment that his bride left him the day before their wedding to marry someone else, there's also the problem that his family was about to face bankruptcy.
"I'm sorry, Asahi."
"You don't have to be sorry about it, Akira." He reassured me, but I could hear the despair in his voice. "I understand."
"But."
"What about your father?" Asahi interrupted me. "Have you told him the news yet?"
I shook my head and sighed deeply. "Not yet. But I will tell him soon. Don't worry about me I can handle him."
"All right, good luck with that."
I will need all the luck I can get, I thought silently*.
Because I suddenly need to take a different road for my life now. A life with Kaito Ishikawa, Prince of Osaka
"Akira? Are you all right, babe?"
I was dragged back to the present time when I saw Kaito looking at me curiously. We were now at the office door of the city mayor.
"Is everything all right?" He asked me again when I remain silently. I could see the concern in his gold eyes as he studied me intently. I didn't notice that he finally remove his sunglasses from his face.
I tried to smile in his direction for the benefit of the straight-laced secretary of the mayor. "Yeah, everything is fine. I'm just thinking, though."
He returned my smile as we entered the mayor's office.
"What are you thinking, I'm curious. Care to share it to me, Akira?"
"Are you sure that you don't want to sign up a pre-nup before the ceremony?" I improvised smoothly. "It's not too late to call your attorney to create one for us. I don't want you to regret things when we are about to divorce."
Kaito gave me a wary smile. "You are the only woman who would think of divorce minutes before her wedding ceremony starts, babe." He lowered his head and whispered for my ears only. "Besides, you couldn't make me beggar me even if you tried. I owned banks all over Japan and let me remind you this simple assurance. There will be no divorce in our marriage life. You will be mine for the rest of our lives."
I stared at him in horror while the arrogant man had the nerve to wink at me. Probably thinking that right this moment he's so charming. Yes, so charming that I want to kill him instantly.
But before I could plot his murder in front of the city mayor and his assistant, the man who was probably the mayor of this town approach us with a greeting smile in his face. "Welcome, Your Excellency. Is this your delightful bride? Please to meet you, Madam."
Kaito must have noticed that I'm not planning to respond because he tightened his grip to my waist as if giving me a silent warning. "This is the man who will perform our wedding, babe." He looked at the elderly man. "Shall we start?"
"Of course, sir." The man stood behind his table and performed the ceremony. This was it? I'm really going to marry this man? There was no escaped now.
I heard Kaito answered the man but my mind cannot comprehend what they were saying it's like I couldn't understand anything at all.
I just notice that everyone was looking in my direction. What? Is this the time that I should answer his question?
My mind shouted for a 'no' but my voice uttered an 'I do'.
I saw the satisfaction in Leandro's expressive eyes as he gets something on his pocket. He opened the velvet box that contain platinum wedding ring with diamonds for the design. He pushed the smaller one next to the enormous engagement ring on my fourth finger in my left hand while took the larger one to place it in his fourth finger on his left hand.
"By the power vested in me." The mayor said in a cheerful voice. "You are now man and wife. You may kiss your bride, Your Excellency."
Kaito's eyes filled with dark fire and he drew me to his arms before he dipped his head for a kiss. I heard him muttered. "Finally, mine."
I thought he would give me scandalous kiss like he used to give me in front of these people but his kiss right now is simple and sweet like a man who is in love.
He was one hell of an actor I would give him that credit.
He accepted the congratulations of the mayor enthusiastically before we left his office silently. He led me back to the corridor and descended to the stairs and swiftly outside.
Once we were outside I heard him cursed. "Damn, lower your head and make sure to cover your eyes."
"What? Why?" I asked in confusion.
"Quick," He said literally dragging me to his car. "There are some paparazzi across the streets. I wonder how they knew about our trip in the city hall."
I cover my face when the flash of their camera started their onslaught it was like there was a lightning storm in the middle of a sunny morning here. I slid to his car immediately as he did the same thing. He started the engine and swiftly moved away from the city hall.
"How did they know about it?" I asked him looking back to see if they were still following us.
"I don't know." There was a frowned in his face as he drove so fast in the streets. "I wonder who tip them."
When I was sure that they weren't following us anymore, I settled back my gaze in front and silence filled the luxury interior of his car. About an hour or so he was still driving to the highway his home wasn't that far from the municipal hall, right?
"Where are we going?" I asked him when he shows no sign that of slowing down from his drive. We were now leaving the city proper and rural surrounding filled scenery.
"Home."
I frowned at me as I study his face while his eyes were once again hidden to the pair of sunglasses he wore a while ago. "But I think we're going the wrong way."
For the first time since we rode his car. He glanced in my direction and smile. "When I say home, wife. I mean to say was my official residence, only the place where I grew up."
"Oh," Before could even formulate a reply we took the road that led to a valley. Several hairpins curved that greet us before we reach the magnificent estate.
"Beautiful house. It reminds me of my home back in Tokyo."
"I'm glad you like it" He said with a smile. I don't know if he heard the sarcasm in my voice and just let it passed. "This is your new home now."
He took my hand and led me inside the Moorish styled palace. The inside this fortress was as grand as the exterior of it. This was really reminding me of that cold palace my father fondly called as his home.
"Leandro!" We were greeted by an elegantly dressed woman who was probably about the same age as me.
She threw her arms to the man beside me and kissed both of his cheeks. When she became aware of my presence her hazel eyes spark in my direction. "Who is she, brother?"
"My wife," He said briefly.
The dark-haired woman squeaked and hugs me tightly. "Oh my goodness! You are really married to my brother?"
I only managed to nod at her.
"I'm Shizuka," She introduced herself cheerfully. "We're going to be terrific sisters. I could feel it." When she happened to see my slightly bump belly, her eyes widened. "You are pregnant? Oh, I'm going to be an aunt at last!"
"What's the noise all about?" A new voice entered the conversation as a new woman slowly descending she is also elegantly dress.
"Maeko," Kaito's sister said with such satisfaction in her voice. "Come and greet Kaito's wife. The new Princess of this house." She glanced at me before setting her gaze back to the woman who was at the foot of the staircase. "This is our sister-in-law, Maeko."
"Hi" I said an awkward greeting but the deadly glare in the woman's dark eyes made me thought twice of just what kind of trouble have I entered now?
