I was lying in a comfortable place, the beeping of the machines around me letting me know that I was being cared for in a clinic or health facility, perhaps a hospital.
I have no idea where or why they would help me. After all, I am but a failure. I saw Charmaine while unconscious. My poor daughter looked lost, and I realized that keeping her nature hidden from her was a terrible mistake.
