My lips were parched as we had sat side by side in total silence. I was uneasy constantly waiting for hours that never were reflected in the non-changing day for an attack that never came. The girl sat there quietly not moving or looking at me. She had squeezed the water from her clothes. My stomach growled yet again this time so loud it took the silence of the room. “Um, I have some bread if you want.” She waited for me to face her before pointing towards her bag. I said nothing as she slowly opened it and placed her hand searching around her eyes not shifting from me as she pulled out a piece. She held it out to me extending herself as far as she could without moving. The bread looked hard and unappealing but to my stomach it was appetizing. I got up and walked forward to her and too
