Grayson went to the penthouse on the top of the building, slamming the door in one go, which made Rowan feel stunned.
Grayson never lost his temper in front of his brother. But today was the first time Rowan noticed his brother behaving like this. He saw concern in his eyes.
At one point, Rowan noticed fear on his face when Grayson hugged Sadhana, which had never been seen in Grayson for the last few years.
Everyone knew Grayson's temper-short-tempered, least bothered about others' feelings, cruel by nature.
Rowan went and gave a brotherly hug to Grayson while sweeping his head from behind.
"What happened, Gray? Is anything bothering you?" Rowan asked Grayson with care.
Grayson opened his mouth and closed his eyes. Then again he started.
"Her voice, her face... looks like Mum, right?
Brother, she is my mother. When she tries to pacify me like our mother, I am bothered.
I need my mum back, Rowan.
I need her as my mum."
Rowan knew very well that his brother never cared about anyone. He never allowed anyone near him or Rowan. Many people tried to be friends, close, even tried to seduce them, but it never bothered them. But this girl made these brothers fall in a few minutes.
One was seeing his mother, and the other fell for her.
Sadhana had no idea about all these things. She had just started her work-rescheduling interviews, fixing a few through mails while making calls for others.
It was almost brunch break.
This floor had only one wide cabin, other than the CEO cabin, which was named after Grayson.
The time showed 11:30. Sadhana got up from her chair and moved to the 13th floor via the staff elevator.
One of the executive assistants for Rowan greeted Sadhana, introducing himself as John. They both sat in the canteen and started talking casually.
John told Sadhana to stay alert when Grayson was near or in meetings. He mentioned that Grayson punished brutally. Today was her lucky day; otherwise, he might have killed her in the conference room because of her deed of pulling the chair back.
Sadhana stood still. She didn't believe John's words because she saw how Grayson behaved with her in the cabin. She saw glittering eyes-not tears. His eyes showed only affection, like a child she had seen in the orphanage.
John also told her that Rowan didn't tolerate mistakes and asked her to be careful. Later, John introduced her to directors and some executive-level people during the break.
In the penthouse, both brothers were watching all this-how Sadhana was moving carefreely, talking, greeting people, smiling-which made Rowan smile, while Grayson felt jealous or some kind of tight feeling. It was not jealousy of a lover. Grayson's jealousy was pure, like when a boy feels his mum is talking and pacifying other kids by neglecting him.
He wanted Sadhana's love for himself only. He couldn't share her motherhood with anyone. Something sharp flashed in his eyes.
Grayson leaned back on the chair and asked, "Rowan bro, you like her, right?"
Rowan replied, "Not like. I love her at first sight. I keep thinking about her. I want to know more about her. I want to marry her."
Grayson nodded, and the next words that came out of his mouth made Rowan freeze.
"Then propose to her. Marry her today itself."
"Grayson, what the hell are you talking about? You never talk like this without thinking. How can I propose so quickly, and forget about marriage?"
"Tell me one thing-what is in your mind, Gray?"
Grayson came near Rowan, stood beside him, and started talking.
"Bro, I need her as my mum. I want her in our mansion-not as staff, not as a maid, not as an assistant. I want her as my mum, who can coax me, shout at me, pacify me. Not as a caretaker. I want her as my mum."
"I am unable to share her glance with others, bro. Ask her to marry you."
Suddenly, Grayson lost his temper. He started throwing things and shouting the same thing repeatedly.
"I want her.
I want my mum."
Grayson had psychological issues and was on medication for depression. Rowan immediately grabbed the medicines from his pocket and tried to pacify Grayson, but he didn't listen. He tried many ways, but it was of no use.
John got a call from Rowan, and Rowan asked him to pass the call to Sadhana.
Sadhana spoke politely. "Mr. Smith, how may I help you?"
"Rowan-come to the top floor, penthouse. You can't come with your access card. Go to my cabin, open the locker. Locker code is 7125. Take the black access card and come immediately. I need you here in ten minutes."
Sadhana left the canteen in a hurry, took the card, and went to the private elevator, which took her to the 52nd floor.
The doors opened wide. For the first time, Sadhana saw the penthouse. It was a very luxurious living space, which made her feel suffocated and thrilled at the same time.
Rowan took her towards the dining area.
Sadhana noticed everything had fallen on the floor and was messed up. She tried to ask Rowan about it.
Before that, Grayson came towards her and hugged her tightly, repeating the word "Mum" like chanting. She stood still, unable to talk, unable to loosen his hold.
After two minutes, Rowan passed the medicine into her hand and signaled her to give it to Grayson.
She was afraid of Grayson's behavior. He held her very tightly.
She patted his shoulder and said, "Sir, please take your seat."
Hearing that, Grayson shook his head and murmured, "Mum, why are you calling me sir? You used to call me Gray, my son, right"
"Are you angry with me?
Are you thinking of leaving me?"
Grayson's whole body was sweating. He was facing difficulty in breathing, yet he didn't stop talking or thinking about Sadhana as his mother. He feared she would leave if he loosened his hold.
Sadhana realized how important the medicine was for Gray.
So she started, "Gray, get up na. Take your medicine. Behave like a good boy."
He stepped back. Meanwhile, Rowan handed over a glass of water to Sadhana.
Grayson opened his mouth. Sadhana fed the medicine herself to Grayson and made him drink water.
Later, she took his hand into hers and made him walk along with her. She took him to the living room and made him sit on the sofa.
Grayson himself placed his head on Sadhana's lap and closed his eyes.
Sadhana ran her fingers through his hair.
After thirty minutes, she felt that he had slept.
But he held her dress very tightly. If she tried to get up, he would wake up.
Rowan, who had been standing aside till now, came and sat beside her-not too close, not too far.
"Hey, Sadhana, sorry for troubling you," Rowan initiated the conversation.
"It's okay, sir."
Rowan asked her about her parents, her studies, and how she reached here.
She told him what she knew-that she had been in an orphanage from birth, and Father Stifen took care of her education and job.
Without delay, Rowan said, "Sadhana, I love you. Love at first sight."
Sadhana froze, unable to process the words. She didn't even know much about him other than that he was the CEO of the company.
Rowan understood her confusion and asked her to drink juice, handing over the glass.
She took a sip.
Then Rowan said, "You don't need to give an answer now. But I need your support. Agree to a one-year contract marriage for now. I promise I will make everything clear about the rules and regulations. I won't touch or trouble you. I need this marriage to save my brother from depression."
"You don't need to answer me today.
Please take your time for today.
We can discuss tomorrow."
Sadhana left the penthouse without saying a word. She took her bag from the cabin and, without informing anyone, left for her PG, which she had taken the previous evening.
