I'm screwed!
Oh my goodness! What have I gotten myself into?!
This is quite distressing.
I threw myself on the bed and pressed my forehead against the pillow, just to shout until all of the tension in my chest was gone. This is both aggravating and upsetting, especially given that the old man made no mention of it.
All he said was money, which made me come here without thinking, and now he was going to be my employer starting today. I sighed, unable to understand everything because the execution I had just witnessed had left me traumatized. Wait! I need to figure out how to get out of here!
"What in the hell are you doing?"
"F*ck!" I was surprised and spun around to face the source of the voice, "What are you, a ghost?"
He didn't respond and instead placed three paper bags above the bed, leaving me to ponder what the heck that was.
"What's this?"
"Why don't you double-check it? I thought you had eyes to see what's inside," he replied.
I snort, "Rude."
When I open the three paper bags, I can't believe what's inside. The most popular is red lingerie. What were they thinking?
"Uh, am I seeing things correctly or am I going blind?" I said.
"Your look indicates that you are astonished. I'm not surprised because I had the same reaction when Alex handed me that disgusting stuff," he murmured, turning away from me. After all, he's back to reading the book.
Is he always carrying that book with him?
"So, Alex chooses this stuff all by himself? How did he know what to pick?" I inquired.
"It's no surprise. He never lets his life become dull, therefore he f*cks with a bunch of ladies. That explains why."
"I see... This is concerning," I sighed, "This underwear... It's overrated and not really my style."
Zach put down his book and stated, "I think he already told you that you don't have a choice, Cassie."
"Yeah..." I said, nodding.
"Keep reminding yourself of that. I suppose you're not stupid to ask me that so many times."
Why is this dude more obnoxious than Aiden? He's not pleasant in general, but this one? He's not any friendlier.
"Yes, sir."
"By the way, you should go to the third floor, where his private room is. Aiden will be waiting for you there, so please arrive on time."
I nodded once more, "Noted."
"That's all," he said as he walked away without waiting for my response.
But I immediately regretted not asking him which room he was in. I can't just guess because I might end up opening the wrong room! Argh!
I got up to see if this lingerie fit me. Yes, it is. But why do I feel like a misfit, and why did he pick the wrong woman?
"Hey! Cassie!" Someone cheerfully opens the door and can't help but turn around to see this Alex guy standing at the entryway.
"Uh, yes?"
"Nothing. I just want to make sure you don't flee because this facility is teeming with elite and professional security. You can't just run away from him like that."
"Are you here to scare me or what?" I cross my arm and raise an eyebrow.
"Uh, both."
"What exactly do you want I'm already tense!" I said.
"Oh, you do? Perhaps you should try to reduce your tension."
"How?"
"Would you like to join us in my room?"
"What the—No!" I said, my eyes widening.
"Okay!"
"Close the door and don't ever come back!"
"I'm afraid I can't promise you that!"
"I hate this place!"
He just chuckled and ran away, leaving me here alone once more. I sat down and wrapped my arms about my knees. What if this is the end of my life? What if he's even more harmful than I realize? What if... Ugh! Why are these ideas bothering me at all?
I heard the door open again but didn't look up in case it was Alex. That man is quite unpleasant, and if I'm not mistaken. I'm going to kick his balls!
"What do you require, Alex? I'm not going to join you and your lady!" I yelled and promptly lifted my head, but to my astonishment, it was the man who was being unpleasant to me.
Yes, this is Zach.
"Sorry..."
"I almost forgot to mention that he wants you to wear that. I'm not sure if it suits you exactly because Alex based your body size on one of his girlfriends. As a result, I'm not sure if it suits."
"It works. Don't be concerned. His girlfriend may be the same size as mine..."
"That's fantastic. You should shower right now. He's waiting; don't make him wait any longer."
"What if I'm running late?"
He shook his head innocently, "He might punish you."
"Punishment? What kind?" I gasped, terrified.
"No one knows. It is calculated by your sin. You must hurry up if you do not want to be punished," he added as he rushed out of the room.
"Wait!" I hurried to catch up with him, but Zach had already left, "What room am I going to enter..."
I return inside and proceed to the restroom. Then I opened the shower door and let the water stream down my face and body. My mind is preoccupied; I can't get away from the thought that he may kill me with a single bullet to the skull.
Aiden Williams. I've heard that name before, but I can't recall where or when.
Is he a well-known young man? Or is he one of the well-known people in our unequal society?
I let out a sigh.
"You're going to have to get through this, Cassie."
My phone abruptly rang. I picked it up to answer the phone, and to my surprise, it was my mother. The reason I accepted this position and agreed to be that deadly man's surrogate.
[Cassie! Where have you gone?] My mother inquired, and I could hear her concern through her voice.
"I'm working right now, Mom. I'm afraid I can't chat with you right now..." I responded.
[Are you leaving tonight? I'm concerned...]
"No, Mom," I say, sadly, "My boss wants me to stay, so I'll call you when he gives me at least one week's leave."
[Please take care of yourself. Cassie, don't forget to call me when you have time...]
"I'll do it, Mom. I will..."
