“Where’s Dad?” I asked the housekeeper, glancing up the crystal stairs to see if he was coming down.
“He will come downstairs to meet you, shortly, sir.” She replied politely. “Please have a seat, and I’ll bring you and your guests some drinks. Is there anything you would like, in particular?”
“I’ll have wine.” I said, then glanced sideways at Vanessa. “Get her some juice.”
“Oh. Okay, sir. Please, excuse me.” The woman nodded, trying to hide her confusion as to why we were not having the same drinks. Vanessa was carrying my baby now, so she had to strictly obey the rules for a successful birth.
