Chapter 3

-Ezekiel POV-   We are all in a bit of a shock when we learn that she is a witch.  “Another one?!” Wolf asks. “It would seem so...” I look at the girl.  "That is why I recognize the scent. She's a witch" Wolf mumbles. “But that doesn’t explain why it says she was born in the sixteen hundreds. Witches have the lifespan of a human... from what we know.” I say. Witches are rare. We have only one witch in the academy, a student. She is young and she is just starting. But even then, most people in the academy are afraid of her, even Marco is wary of her.    Witches can use a variety of magics, from elemental to hexes and enchantments. Who knows what else they can do. We know little of them.  A witch is not someone anyone wants to cross.   They were hunted down nearly to extinction in the sixteenth century by hunters. Now, only a few remain and most of them are in hiding.   We all stare at the sleeping woman.   “Do we... do we really want her to wake up?” Theo asks.   “I say we just take the files and leave her.” Wolf says.   I shake my head. “I am too curious about her now.”    “And that curiosity of your is going to get us killed one day. She is a ticking time bomb. We should leave her, we got what we came for.” Wolf says.   I shake my head. “Not happening. She might get caught again and we don’t know what they are doing with her. They could be trying to make her into a weapon.”   He sighs. “Exactly.”   I look at him. “I thought you were a wolf, not a pussy.” I say.   “You fucker, I’m going to rip you apart one of these days!”   I laugh and then I lean in towards the girl to get a good look at her.    Her eyes suddenly start to flutter open. Big brown eyes stare back at me. She looks at me for a few seconds and then suddenly, her eyes widen.   "AAAHH!” She shouts and then *slap!*   She slaps me.   "Buahahahah!" Wolf starts to laugh.   I rub my face and she quickly gets up and runs to the end of the room.   "Who are you?!" She shouts looking frantic. "Where am I?!"   I can hear a slight English accent.  I slowly walk towards her and she holds the sheet against her body tight.  The image of her in her naked glory pops into my head and I almost want to let my mind wander, but she looks scared and the last thing I want to do is scare her even more. Especially when despair is written all over her face.  "You are safe." I say trying to calm her down.   She shakes her head. "No! Stay away from me!" She lifts her hand towards me as she mutters —what to me are— incoherent words. I brace myself for whatever spell she is about to do but nothing comes out.   She looks surprised and looks at her hand like something is wrong.   She gives her attention back to us while she tightly holds the white lab coat and blanket on her.   "Stay away from me!" Her voice is desperate.  "We won't hurt you. You can calm down darling." I say.   She stares at us for a few more seconds, looking a bit confused. Her eyes go to Theo, she looks at Theo up and down, and then her eyes go to Wolf who flexes, looking at her like she is the enemy.   (He is scaring her even more. Dumbass.)   She then looks at me.   “I’m Ezekiel, this is Theo and this dumb man here is Wolf but don’t worry about him... he’s just a big mutt.”   “You mother fucker!” Wolf growls at me.   I hold my laugh.    “Hey calm down, you are going to scare her.” I say.   He narrows his eyes at me and looks like he wants to kill me.   I look back at the girl.   “You are Aurora?” I ask.   She slowly nods. She looks like she calms down a bit and then looks down, looking a bit shy.   "Could... Could I perhaps use the water closet?" She asks.    Wolf and Theo look at each other confused.    "Through there." I say pointing at the bathroom.   She looks surprised. "You knew what I meant?"    She has a proper way of speaking. Now I notice that it is not much of an accent, it is more that she speaks like the old proper ways which make it sound like an accent.  I nod.    "Yes, it's what they used to call bathrooms back in the day." I say and give her a smile but she still looks at me with distrust.   She slowly walks towards the bathroom and closes the door.   "Is this for real?" Theo whispers. "Is she really a witch from the Salem witch trials?"   "Salem?" Wolf asks.   "Yes. Her file says she is from Essex. It is a county in Massachusetts and next to Salem where the witch trials took place back in the sixteenth century." Theo says sounding enthusiastic.  "Goddamn! I didn't ask you to give me a history lesson!" Wolf says looking annoyed.   "Shut up!" Theo shouts at him and rushes to her computer. "You said her name was Aurora Sibyl?" She asks me.   I nod still deep in thought.    Theo types away for a few seconds. "See, Salem but... there was no Sibyl amongst the witch trials.” She says now confused. “There was a Sibley but no Sibyl. However... that was on human history." She keeps typing and then points at the monitor. "This is the old Hunters history logs."   "How did you get in there?" Wolf asks.   "Skills baby." She answers while she continues to type. "There! While humans were killing innocent people because of mass hysteria, the hunters were killing real witches. The hunters killed twenty-four by fire in Salem alone." She keeps reading. "Here! There is a Beatrice Sybil a Charlotte Sybil and an... Aurora Sibyl." Theo looks taken aback. "Three sisters with Aurora being the youngest."   I look at her computer and see a drawing picture with a whole family. There is the mother and the father with the three sisters and the Aurora in our bathroom looks just like one of them but without the scars. It is a newspaper clip about recognition of discoveries her parents made throughout a few years of their lives. The ink is hard to read.  "How is that possible?" Wolf asks.   "Now that, I don't know." Theo says and they both look at me.   "Hey, I'm just as lost as you all are." I say.   “Could she be a vampire and witch?” Wolf asks.   “I don’t know I mean, we have a damn fairy in the academy so I guess anything is possible.” I say.   “Damn f*****g fairy.” Wolf mumbles under his breath and I start laughing.   Fairies are not one gender, they can choose a gender and change to it. Wolf didn’t get the memo, not until after he slept with her... him... whatever it is.  Theo continues to talk, reading from a picture on the computer of what looks like an old page from a book.   “Her father was Gilbert Sibyl and their mother was Elizabeth Sibyl. They both died when Aurora was in her teens. The sisters were all two years apart and the eldest, Beatrice, took care of the other two...” She stops and takes a closer look. “There is mystery surrounding their deaths.”   “What do you mean?”   “Well, Beatrice died fast consumed by the fire but Charlotte and Aurora, they have seemed to have taken longer and also...”   “What?”   “Well... there is a lot blacked out. See?” She points at the monitor to where a lot of the writing after the fire is blacked out with ink.   “Why would someone do that?” Wolf asks.   “Obviously to cover something up.” Theo says, looking at him like he is dumb.   (And he kind of is.)   I look towards the bathroom. "Why is she taking so long anyway?"   Wolf focuses his hearing towards the bathroom. "I can't hear anything in there."   "f**k!" I quickly rush and break the door in.   She is gone. The window is opened.   "Damn it! We should have known!" Wolf says. He then puts his jacket on. "Let's go. Her scent is unique so I'll easily pick it up.”  We head out with Theo staying behind.    Once we are outside, Wolf smells the air while people around us look at us strangely.   "This way." He says.   (This is not good. We are in the city and her scent could get lost easily.)   My phone rings and it is Theo. I quickly remember that we forgot our earpieces. I pick up.  "Listen to this..." Theo says through the phone. "I am reading her file and all I can see is that they were keeping her sedated and taking her blood. There is no record of anything else."   “They didn’t tamper with anything else on her?” I ask.   “No, nothing.” She says.  I know how these people work so this is strange.  "That means that they want her or need her the way she is." I say. "Does it say how is she here right now? Like... did she travel through time?" Wolf asks.   "Mmh... let me keep reading." She says.  "Wait..." Wolf says smelling the air. "I got her!"   He rushes through a corner and suddenly stops.  I narrow my eyes at him. "... really Wolf? Really?"   "Her... her scent is all over it." He says looking embarrassed and still sniffing the fire hydrant that it's clearly already peed by a dog.   I smirk. "You know... I'm sure you'll be arrested if you even think about it."   He growls at me and continues to walk.   "What is it? You want to mark your territory?"  I tease him.  "Fucker! I'm going to kill you one of these days!" He shouts at me.   He always says that but never does.  I continue following Wolf as I hold my laugh.   “Okay, so nowhere here it says how she got here but, the lab records of her start from the nineteen forties.” Theo says. “And it seems she broke out once in the fifties for about a week.”  “Goddamn, this is giving me a headache.” Wolf says.   I roll my eyes. “You wolves all really need to learn to pay more attention.”   “You think you know everything about us just because you’re tight with the Alpha queen but a little birdy told me that the king doesn’t like you very much.” He says with a smirk.   “And what is your point?” I ask looking at him irritated, remembering the d**k, Alpha Kingston.  “My point is that-” He stops talking and looks to our right as if he caught something.   “This way!” He says.   This better not be another dog thing.
