I was shocked to see Ben standing on our porch at this time of night. The man looked both happy and stressed out.
“Hey Ben,” I greeted the guy and he smiled softly.
“Sorry to bother you…is Sam awake?” he asked, but I shook my head.
“No, she went to sleep about fifteen minutes ago,” I said, and he nodded. He looked dejected, so I waved him inside. “I’m not Samara, but if you want to talk…” I left the offer up to him as I went over to the couch and sat down. Ben slowly entered but he didn’t sit down.
