Fate’s POV
“So, that’s about it,” I said, as excited as ever, even with Gary in tow.
He shrugged, “Yes, Miss Fate.”
“Fate...” I said, “How hard is it for you to call me Fate?”
“Fate.” Chance warns.
I rolled my eyes and slumped back in my seat, looking out the window.
Chance the goody two shoes. Well, he isn’t that good, really, he’s a jock after all.
He’s been in enough trouble almost to get kicked out of the team and not to mention the school.
He is sweet and has the looks of an all-American kid. Except when it has to do with me and Hope crying, especially Hope, he’d probably kill for our baby sister.
So would I if anyone ever did hurt her.
Let’s just say that they’ll have to deal with the 2/3 of the Pierce siblings.
A perfect example was a few months after we turned fifteen when Chance almost killed my ex after slapping me and harming Hope. Everyone was expecting Chance to get kicked out of the team or even the school. Luckily, Katy and a lot of other kids spoke up for us.
After that drama, even my friends and Chance were beginning to be protective of Hope, Katy in particular. And I loved her more for that.
“Anyway, there’s no need for you rushing into the house if certain people will just stick with the rules and stay away from trouble,” Hope says.
“Certain people pertaining you?” Chance teased.
Hope just rolled her eyes and crossed her arms over her chest, staring out the window.
I grinned, “Shut up Chance, you’re just scared that she’d end up with someone like you.”
“No, I’m not.” He snapped, “I happen to be a very good ladies' man… a gentleman even. Ask Katy.”
I rolled my eyes again, “Katy doesn’t count, she’s totally in love with you, of course, she’ll say that.”
“Well, that’s why she’s in love with me,” he says smugly.
“Whatever.” Hope and I said in unison.
Finally, we reached the party and from the looks of it, it was in full swing.
“Well, I for one only have one rule,” Gary says. “Call me when you’re in trouble.”
“Yes sir,” I said and tapped him on the shoulder from the back seat.
“We’ll see you later Gary!” Hope says before stepping out of the car.
“Oh, Miss Hope?” he calls for her again, I stopped before slamming the door closed to hear what he has to say. “Don’t accept drinks from your date, especially the ones that you don’t see how is made.”
Hope smiled, “I’ll keep that in mind, big bear.”
Gary grinned and so did I, before closing the door and joining my sister and my brother on the sidewalk, remembering the same words he told me on my first date.
“You ladies ready?” Chance asked.
“As ever,” I said, swinging a hip toward Hope making her laugh.
She looked totally hot tonight. She should, we spent about an hour and a half on each other to get the perfect look we want, we even had Mom give the go signal for the short dresses we had on. Much to Daddy’s dislike of course.
Then Chance stepped in between us, putting an arm around our waist, “Let’s go then.”
We also hooked an arm around his waist and made our way to the party.
When we stepped inside we were greeted by the cheering squad and some of the jocks.
“Looking good there Pierce.” I hear Ken whisper in my ear.
“Hands to yourself big boy.” I said back, “Big brother’s watching.”
He grinned, “I’ll have you all to myself in a while, don’t worry.” I gave a flirty giggle as I see him glance at one of the cheerleaders, giving her a signal.
She smiled and made her way to my brother.
“Hey Chance…” she says.
“Well, hello to you too.” Chance says, looking at the girl up and down. “Can I help you with something?”
Her smile turned into one that was seductive, I caught Hope giving her a disgusted look making me laugh and agree with her.
The girl steps up to whisper to Chance, “You can help me out of these clothes.”
This time I reacted. “Ok, ok… the three of us just have an official business to do, then Chance and I will be back.”
“Well, what about the little girl?” Andy asks, giving Hope a once over, instantly Chance and I stepped up.
“Hands and eyes to yourself,” I said, glaring at him.
He chuckled and raised his hands up in defeat.
“I’m on a supposed date.” Hope explains, “And these two and the parents are blowing it all out of proportion.”
“How so?” Greg asked.
“Dad went all CIA, these two are about to give him a piece of their mind, and Mom sent a guard with us.”
“A guard? Seriously?”
“Well, it’s the baby girl’s first date, what do you expect?” I turned to see my best friend almost already drunk.
“Hi, Katy!” Hope greeted them and hooked an arm around her waist.
Since that day on the corridor, Hope had taken a liking to Katy, even enough to demand Chance to go exclusive with her.
“Hey, their pretty lady.” Katy greets, “You are looking extremely hot tonight.”
“Thank you,” Hope says, blushing a little, “Fate helped me.”
“No surprise there.” She says, almost slurring her words as she took another swig on her cup.
“Katy, I think you’ve had enough drink.” Chance says.
“No.” she snapped at him, “You have no right to talk to me, Pierce.”
Chance shrugged and reached out to her, “Katy…”
“Don’t touch me!” she snapped.
“Chance, c’mon, she says don’t,” I said.
“Are you ok Katy?” I hear Hope ask.
“Am I ok?” she asks her, then she gave a laugh, “You dare ask me if I’m ok you little slut-“
“Hey…” Chance grabbed Katy by the arm and pulled her away from Hope. “Don’t bring my sisters into this.”
“They have always been part of this, Chance, baby…” she says, “They get the popular welcome cause I told people to do so, for you…”
“And I told you that you didn’t need to do that.” Chance says.
“But I did.” She says, her face a few inches away from Chance’s angry face.
“Look, you can’t do this-“
“I already did and I can take it back.”
I frowned, “Take it back?”
She gave me a smile before turning around and walking away.
We all stared at her and shook our heads.
“Hey, don’t mind her.” I hear Ken say, giving Katy a disgusted look, “She had always been a spoiled b*tch.”
“Yeah.” Jasmine says, “We were actually wondering what made her change all that.”
“Well, I think that mystery is solved,” I said giving Chance a look who just shrugged.
“Chance?” we all turned to Hope, from the looks of it, she was close to tears.
“s**t…” I caught Chance saying. “Are you ok Hope?”
She gave a weak nod. “She didn’t mean that, did she?”
I sighed and walked up to her, “No, you look absolutely beautiful Hope.”
“You’re sister is right.” Andy says, “You are hot and classy.”
I grinned, he did have use after all.
She sighed and forced a smile, “Thank you.”
“Anyway, don’t mind Katy, maybe she just had a little too much to drink, or maybe we should expect the return of the lying daughter of the mayor.”
“Let's just hope it’s the first one,” I said. “Anyway, let’s look for your date Hope, he’s probably waiting somewhere inside.”
“Kitchen,” Tim says.
“Blue button-up,” Jesse adds.
“Quite a gentleman, actually,” Jimmy says in approval.
Chance and I gave an internal groan and turned to Hope who was gawking at us.
“You had him spied on?” she snapped.
“All night.” Our friends say.
“Unbelievable!” she says throwing her hands in the air.
“He is.” Jasmine says, “Pretty hot if you ask me.”
“Has he been drinking?” Chance cuts in before they can make things worse.
“Nope.” The boys answered.
“Danced with a girl?”
“Nope.” The girls answered.
“Has he even done anything since he arrived?” Chance asked, obviously looking for some reason to not trust the guy.
They all put on their thinking face, “Nope.” They all said making popping noises.
Chance shrugged and I smiled at Hope, “I think you got a good catch their lil sis.”
She shook her head, “Who’d probably be swimming away the moment he sees you two.”
“Let’s get this over with.” Chance grumbled and made our way to the house, meeting more of our friends along the way, the others were following us, no doubt curious of what will be going down between the new guy and Chance.
And as they have said Dean Bolton was inside the kitchen, leaning on the counter, staring at his cup.
Chance cleared his throat making the boy look up to him, then he sees Hope. I smiled when I caught him just staring at her face, didn’t even bother to check on what she was wearing. I should have just made her wear a potato sack.
“Hey, Dean.” Hope walked up to him and gave him a kiss on the cheek.
I raised a brow, a kiss on the cheek on the first date. Was this even the first date?
“Hey, you look beautiful.” He says, putting an arm around her waist making her giggle.
Then for the thousand times that night, I rolled my eyes hearing my brother and his cronies clear their throats.
The two love birds obviously turned to us, Hope masked with irritation, and Dean in curiosity.
“Quite an entourage you got here...”
I stifled a laugh, a boy with a sense of humor is always a good boy on my books.
“Sorry about that,” I said, “you’ve probably heard stories of how special our Hope is.”
He then looked down at her, “I know.”
Hope smiled and blushed making me laugh some more, then I stretched out my hand, “I’m Fate, her sister.”
He nodded, “I know.” He says again, “We’re on algebra together.”
“Oh, uhm, sorry,” I said as he shook my hand, “I’m not good with socializing.”
He laughs, “You are actually, I guess, it just takes a while before you can trust new people.”
“Not a fan of change.” I agreed. I heard a grumble behind me and I swore, my eyeballs were sticking permanently up under my lids. “Then I guess you have heard of our brother?”
“Big brother.” Chance says.
“Sure have,” Dean says reaching out his hand to him for a shake but Chance didn’t even look at it. So Dean awkwardly pulled it back, smile not faltering. “You can say I have heard a lot about the Pierce triplets.”
“And what are these things you’ve heard?” Chance asked.
“That you are the youngest guy who got on the football team, making you an instant badass in school. Which is a good thing seeing that you are quite protective of your sisters.” Then he glanced my way, “Then there’s the cheerleader, friendly, beautiful, and every guy’s dream girl.” I chuckled and shook my head feeling Ken step up behind me.
“Then of course,” he glanced at Hope, “The youngest of the three, the little princess. The quiet and mysterious Pierce, is equally beautiful as her sister, but not as outspoken. Almost as fragile as a flower.”
I loved just how he stared at Hope as he says those words making me and the girls sigh, while the boys gag.
“Anyway,” he says, turning to us, “are you here to tell me to back off, I can’t do that. I promised her that, which I will promise the same thing to you guys, I will look after her and protect her from other douche harm.”
I beamed with pride and turned to Chance, daring him to say anything else.
This time it was his turn to roll his eyes.
“Fine,” he snaps, “but if I see one tear, just one… I’m pretty sure you’ve heard of what I am capable of.”
With that said he turned and left.
Hope smiled and turned to me. “Is that a yes?” she asked.
“That’s one yes, yes,” I said referring to Dad making her groan, and I laughed at her. Then I looked up at Dean, “Listen, as much as I admire your bravery for facing my brother and his cronies-“
“Hey…” Ken says, putting an arm around my waist, the others had left and he was pulling me out of the room as well.
“Well, his handsome cronies,” I said, making Hope and Dean laugh. “We have a guard with us tonight, so I don’t think you’d be able to drop off Hope home.”
Dean smiled and nodded, “That’s cool, at least now I get to pick her up and drop her off before and after school.”
I raised a brow and glanced at Hope who was giving me a pleading look, “Let’s take it slow.” I said, “One thing I know about my brother, is he doesn’t like change as much as I do.”
With that said I turned to leave with Ken who led me to the dance floor.
I smiled up at him and linked my hands behind his neck as he pulled me closer.
“Nice save there, babe…” he whispered as he left kiss marks on my neck and under my ear.
I chuckled as I close my eyes savoring the feeling he was giving me.
“Yeah, well, it's either I regret that or regret not getting what you’re doing now,” I whispered as I step nearer to him, leaving almost nothing between us.
