Chapter 39: When Dreams Touch Reality

608 Words
The night air felt calm and warm as Isabelle and Daniel walked slowly beneath the glowing lights of the Eiffel Tower. For a while, neither of them spoke. They were both quietly adjusting to the strange feeling of finally meeting in the real world. Daniel glanced at Isabelle and smiled. “You know, this is still a little surreal.” Isabelle laughed softly. “Only a little?” He nodded. “Okay… a lot.” They continued walking along the nearby path, the city lights of Paris stretching beautifully around them. Street musicians played nearby, and couples walked past, laughing and talking. Everything felt normal. Almost too normal. Isabelle looked down at her hand again. The faint mark had not appeared for several minutes. “Maybe the dream connection only activates when we’re sleeping,” she said thoughtfully. Daniel shrugged. “That would make life a lot simpler.” But at that exact moment, the air around them shifted. It was subtle at first. The lights flickered slightly. A soft glow passed across the ground like a ripple through water. Daniel stopped walking. “Did you feel that?” Isabelle nodded slowly. “Yes.” The faint glowing marks appeared on both of their hands again. This time they were brighter. Daniel looked around carefully. The city was still there. But something else had appeared too. A faint shimmer in the air. Like the outline of another world overlapping with this one. Isabelle’s eyes widened. “Daniel…” He followed her gaze. For just a moment, between the buildings, he saw something impossible. A distant silver tree. The exact kind that grew in the dream forest. Daniel blinked. The tree vanished instantly. The street looked normal again. Cars passed by. People continued walking without noticing anything unusual. Daniel turned back to Isabelle. “You saw that too, didn’t you?” She nodded slowly. “The dream world… it’s bleeding into reality.” Daniel looked at the glowing marks on their hands. “So Elara was right.” “The Dream Core is waking up,” Isabelle finished quietly. The glow slowly faded again. Everything returned to normal. But the moment had already changed everything. Daniel let out a slow breath. “Okay… that’s definitely new.” Isabelle laughed nervously. “You think?” They sat down on a nearby bench. The lights of the Eiffel Tower shimmered above them as the city continued its peaceful evening. Daniel leaned back slightly. “So now our dream universe can show up while we’re awake.” Isabelle crossed her arms thoughtfully. “Which means the connection between our worlds is getting stronger.” Daniel glanced at her. “Does that scare you?” She thought about it for a moment. Then she shook her head. “Not really.” Daniel raised an eyebrow. “Why not?” Isabelle smiled warmly. “Because whatever happens… we’re facing it together.” Daniel couldn’t help smiling back. “That might be the most reassuring thing anyone has said tonight.” They both looked out across the glowing city skyline. Somewhere beyond reality, their dream world still existed. A place filled with silver forests, glowing rivers, and endless landscapes waiting to be explored. And now… That world was slowly reaching toward theirs. Daniel stood up and offered his hand. “So what do you say?” Isabelle looked at him curiously. “What?” He grinned. “Ready for whatever adventure comes next?” Isabelle took his hand. Her glowing mark shimmered faintly again. “Always.” High above the city, the night sky stretched endlessly. And somewhere beyond it, the Dream Core pulsed quietly…
