Leave me

632 Words
Kimi's POV I sat on the bench, tears streaming down my face. Charlotte had walked away, and while I couldn't fault her for not returning my feelings, the anguish in her eyes was too much to bear. She was clearly concealing something from me, and the expression she wore when I confessed my love—shock, pain, and confusion—haunted me. Finally, unable to stay any longer, I rose from the bench and headed home. At school Charlotte's POV I entered the school with my head held high and a smile on my face, masking the tears I had shed the night before. I can't quite grasp why Kimi has feelings for me, so in an attempt to distance myself, I resolved to give the impression that I'm infatuated with someone else. But the question is, who? "Hey, Charlotte! It's been a while," Elena, a member of the serpent clan and my ex-girlfriend, said with a smile. "Hey, Elena," I said, my gaze scanning for Kimi. I spotted her as she entered the school gates. When our eyes met, I pulled Elena in and kissed her. She responded, and I noticed Kimi turning to join a group of girls. As I began to pull away, Elena held onto my hand, stopping me. "I missed this and you," she said in a soft voice, which only annoyed me further. I withdrew my hand and made my way through the main entrance of the school. Once inside, I hurried to the bathroom and locked myself in a stall. Then I heard the door swing open, and the sound of someone crying filled the air. "Why? Why? Is it wrong to love her?" the girl asked. Upon hearing her voice, a piercing ache shot through my heart. Warm tears streamed down my cheeks, and her sobs deepened my sadness. I quickly wiped my eyes and stepped out of the stall. She was sitting there, and as I closed the door behind me, she lifted her gaze to meet mine. The sorrow in her eyes was unmistakable. I approached her and gently cradled her face in my hand, gazing into her hazel eyes, now filled with tears. "You enjoy getting hurt, don't you?" I remarked with an icy tone. "Why? I told you that I love you," she stammered. "Char, how could you?" "Stop calling me that! I don't love you, so just go away. Just leave, Kimi!" I yelled as I turned to walk away, but she grabbed my hand. "Do you really want me to go? Charlotte, why won't you just let me in? Why do you have to hurt me? Is it so terrible to love you?" Her eyes were brimming with a mix of pain and anger. "Please, just stop. Love someone else, not me. I'm begging you to stop." "How can I just stop, Charlotte? You kissed me and invited me to the park. I never asked for this. I'm sorry for my feelings, but I just want a chance to be close to you. There's no reason to keep me at a distance or to cause me pain. I can try to let go of my feelings, but please don't push me away." I tried to keep myself upright, but my knees buckled, and I collapsed. As I fell, I cradled my face in my hands, tears beginning to flow. "I love you, Kimi, and that's why you need to let me go. I only bring you pain, and I don't deserve your love. Please find someone else who can make you happy. Staying with me will only lead to more heartache. Just walk away." I shouted and cried as I confronted her, but she remained silent, simply wrapping her arms around me. . Why do you love me?
