The keycard clicked green again. Another door slid open with a soft hiss.
Another girl.
Maybe seventeen. Thin as bone, shivering under the corner cot with her knees pressed to her chest. Her eyes flicked to me, wide and feral, ready to bite or bolt. I knew the look. I’d seen it once.
“Hi sweetie,” I said gently, kneeling by the door. “I’m not one of them, and I’m here to take you out, if you’ll let me...”
