Gabriella’s POV

*5 years later*

After our training was over me and Danny were teleported to a house in a small human town called Bulgar. It was near the Black Sea and was in the center between the sun witches coven, a strong vampire clan, a fae kingdom and a werewolf pack. Our scents were masked as to not attract the attention of the surrounding magical societies. Even though they lived peacefully and in harmony, Bulgar was a neutral land and they were forbidden to reveal themselves to the humans. Unless one of the numans were mated to a supernatural being.

As soon as we arrived we started our research. We looked all over the world for Selene, trying to find her or at least who took her. We knew she wasn’t dead or hurt. Otherwise all shifters would have felt it. We did feel the loss of our fast healing on full moons though. That caused some other magical beings to try and attack shifter packs and clans but the Blue Moon pack organized training for pack warriors from all over the world which made the shifters stronger.

The shifters knew that something was wrong but the elder who came to us after Alpha Gregory’s death covered up the elders' absence and trained the next ones. Last year they took their place and no one knew they weren't the same. The new elders knew about Selene and were sworn in secrecy before the Fates. They kept the packs busy with new training and missions. Organized yearly events like alpha meetings, mating balls for unmated wolves, Luna clubs etc.

Our search keeps getting to dead ends. Sometimes I get really frustrated and my ideas are depleting. 

I am currently in our home office researching who might hate Selene or would want to overthrow her. Danny came in bringing lunch. I stood up and went to help him set it on the coffee table. When we were done he pecked my lips and snaked his arms around my waist.

“Hello, beautiful. I missed you” He smiled at me

“Missed you too. What did you bring?” 

Daniel and I became closer over the years. I know I asked Nate to move on and try to make space for Cary in his heart and try to be happy with her but I never intended to do the same. Daniel and I are devoted to our mission and we don’t have much interaction with the world around us. I guess that brought us closer together. Danny knows how I feel about Nate and that it will never change. He doesn’t press me and we often talk about our happy memories when the four of us were inseparable. He makes sure that I will not forget Nate and says he is happy to put a smile on my face. I know his feelings for me are far deeper than mine for him will ever be but that doesn’t change the fact that I do care for him deeply.

We heard that Nate and Cary are expecting their first child in a few months. This made me happy to know that they managed to find a way to be content with each other but I can't help the way my heart aches for not being able to be the one to give him a pup. 

“Are you OK, Gabby?” Danny asked, a bit concerned.

“Yes, hun. Let’s eat” I smiled and kissed his cheek. 

We ate and talked about our research.

“I honestly am running out of ideas, Danny. We spent 5 years searching for her. We searched every corner on this earth and she’s nowhere to be found.” I said

“It is strange that we feel no pain of hers and we didn't feel her die. That’s odd. Why would this evil being kidnap her but not torture or kill her? Not that I wish for her suffering or death but it doesn’t make sense” he said. Our gazes met. We worked in sync together and our brainstorming often led to the push we needed, another angle to look at things.

“What if she ran away on her own and is now hiding?” he said, his eyes going wide.

“It is a possibility but why would she do this to us? Why would she do this to her siblings and the Fates? They were genuinely concerned.” I said thinking out loud.

“But you said it yourself, we searched every corner on this earth” he argued, but then a thought came to me suddenly.

“We did search the earth but we never searched under it!” I said jumping up, running to the desk to start a new research on the computer. Danny followed.

“We never searched the seas. You are brilliant! Beautiful and brilliant. I love your brains” He said over excited and kissed my cheek tenderly. I smiled at him. I know he tries to avoid saying that he loves me. Not because he doesn’t feel it, I know he is in love with me but he doesn't want to make me feel obligated to say it back. I do love him. But I can’t make my mouth say it. I will always love Nate more.

“I programmed the software to do some research. Now we have to wait a couple of hours for it to finish and then we can analyze the results.” I said as I stood up to clean the table from the lunch we ate. His arms snaked around my waist from behind me and he kissed my neck

“You know how irresistible and sexy your smartness is to me” he breathed in my ear.

“Show me.” I challenged.

He accepted it gladly. His arms snaked lower to the nape of the dress I was wearing and started sliding up my thigh underneath it. His lips never leaving my neck and I could feel his hard member pressing behind me. I moaned when one of his hands cupped my breast and the other made its way in my pants to feel my wetness. I turned around to face him and kissed his lips. He lifted me up, making my legs go around his waist instinctively. Danny pushed me to the wall, his lips never leaving mine, hands cupping my ass firmly.

“Tell me what you want, Gabby” he always made sure that we move at my pace but also loved to hear me say it.

“I want you inside me. NOW”

He didn’t need to be told twice. He tore my panties and dove into me in one thrust. I don’t know when he took his pants off but I really didn’t care. His thrusts in me became faster and harder and was just about to c*m when he suddenly slowed down and his thrusts became slow and passionate. Danny looked into my eyes, his hands roaming my body ever so gently. His eyes held so much love and passion that it made me feel guilty that I can't return with the same amount of that affection. I looked away and tried to hide my face in the nape of his neck but he didn’t let me.

“Look at me Gabby” he said gently, keeping his slow pace and long strides. My eyes welled up with tears.

“You are enough, Gabby. I know what you are thinking but don’t. You are more than enough.” he said so confidently that I believed him. I believed that what I can give him is enough for him.

“I love you, Daniel,” I had to say it. He knows what I can give him and he knows what I mean. He deserves to be able to hear those words. 

I feel Caly coming closer to the surface, she wanted to feel his love too and I could feel Roden was present as well.

“Mark me” I whispered and I could see the shock in his eyes. I know he wanted to mark me for a long time but he never told me. He always cared about my feelings first. He didn’t move but I could feel he was fighting with his wolf who really wanted to mark me. So I kissed him passionately then slowly started to trail kisses down his neck. I felt his heart rate increasing. I found my spot on his neck and kissed it slowly. My canines elongated and I slowly bit down. His pace quickened a little bit and I felt his canines puncturing my skin. Our blood mixed and the bond was formed. It wasn’t the same as fated mate bond but there was a bond present. We both retracted our canines and licked the wound to seal it. I came moaning his name and he followed me after a couple more long thrusts. 

He stayed in me. His forehead on mine while we panted to catch our breath. I held on his neck tightly and he moved us to sit on the couch with me on his lap, straddling him. His member was still inside me. I cupped his face and pecked his lips.

“If you find your fated mate I will let you go, I promise” I said and I meant it. I would never keep him away from his fated mate.

“I have already found her, Gabby,” he said looking into my eyes.

“What? When? Where?” I can’t believe it. Did he reject her for me? I started to panic

“Relax” he chuckled. “I have her in my arms” he smiled but I felt confused

“I meant you fated mate, Danny”

“I know, beautiful. You are my fated mate and I am your second chance mate but you can’t feel it.”

“How?” was all I could say. I know he wouldn’t lie and now, looking back, he does act like a mate but I only thought he wanted to make me feel wanted. He would nuzzle in my neck and breathe in my scent. He could feel me when my emotions got too strong and always showed at the right time, but… how?! He sighed

“When the Fates broke your bond with Nate mine started forming with you. You were too sad to feel it and I had time to ask Fates to break it on your end.” his gaze averted from mine.

“Why would you do this to yourself?!”

“You weren’t ready, Gabby. You would have felt very confused with the feelings you have for Nate and a new mate bond. And also I didn’t want to rob you from your most precious memories and feelings you have ever had. It doesn’t matter that I am your second chance. I knew I will always be your second. And I am OK with it. I wasn’t planning on starting intimate relationship with you, I wanted to give you space but, well.. you know what happened” he smiled sheepishly at the end

“I don’t deserve you, Danny.” my eyes welled with tears again

“Hey, look at me. You are enough. You are more than enough for me, Gabby. Just let go of the guilt already.” he tried to comfort me while he started to slowly thrust into me again. He took my dress off and took one n****e in his mouth, his hands were on my hips but he let me control the rhythm. I relaxed and decided to let my worries go. He was right, he is a big boy and knew what he was getting into. Danny bit my fresh mark and that instantly made my walls clench around his member. He flipped us over so he was on top of me. He kept his thrusts steady and strong and I came again. 

“c*m for me, Daniel” I moaned and I felt him lose control, he started f*****g me harder and faster and came not long after.

We were still panting when we heard the ding from the software signaling that it found a match of what we were looking for. Danny took me in his arms and sat on the chair with me on his lap. 

We looked at the screen. LEVIATHAN

“Oh my goddess, this makes perfect sense” I wiggled happily but I soon realized that it was a huge mistake because we were still naked and I was on his lap and he got hard again immediately.

“Mmmmm have I told you how sexy your smartness is?!” he purred in my ear, his voice mixed with Roden’s. I am dripping

“I might need a reminder” I moaned.

He bent me over the desk and we f****d wilder this time.
