15. Second chance mates

Third person’s POV

Danny and Gabby were sitting on the couch, still naked, Gabriella straddling Daniel’s lap, their foreheads touching. Roden and Calypso were still present in the front of their humans’ minds. Calypso has accepted Danny and Roden as their mates but she still hasn't let Roden mark her in their wolf forms, they never bonded intimately in wolf form. Roden was OK with that, he knew that a wolf soul would never accept another wolf mate unless it is a fated first or second chance and since she didn’t feel the second chance bond, he understood and settled with experiencing their intimacy through Daniel’s body.

“I want to run with Roden” Caly said to Gabriella.

“They are too emotional right now, Caly. They need us now. Let’s run later” Gabriella was worried that Roden was also feeling depressed

“You don’t understand… The thought that we may be losing them made me realize I was holding onto something so far in the past that it feels like a lifetime ago. I can feel the matebond now, I realized I was blocking it with the pain of our loss but I am free from it now. I can feel him, he is mine and I am his. We are theirs”

Gabriella was stunned. First, because this is the first time Calypso spoke so much since the loss of their mate and second, because she realized she was also feeling the mate sparks from Danny’s touch.

Her eyes filled with tears, her heart swelled with love and happiness. Danny saw her tears and became worried.

“What’s wrong, Gabby? Talk to me” he pleaded

“Mate” she whispered with a small smile on her lips. Daniel’s eyes grew bigger

“MINE” Daniel and Roden growled together as realization hit them.

They kissed their she-wolves, Gabriella moaned in the kiss feeling Danny’s d**k hardened underneath her again. She slid him inside her and started moving her hips back and forth, her wetness dripping down his hardness, never breaking their kiss.

Danny stood up with her in his hands and sat her on the desk, Gabriella’s legs circled around his waist. She met his every thrust, his hands on her ass keeping her firmly. Gabriella laced her fingers in Daniel’s hair as he was sucking on her n*****s, bringing him even closer.

“Harder, mate” she said between moans and Daniel obliged. He looked into her eyes and roared “MINE” as he extended his canines and bit her mate mark. Gabriella did the same and they both reached their high at the same time.

“Let’s go for a run,” Gabriella said, still panting. Roden knew what that meant. He finally got to be with his mate. He rushed his human to run outside faster. Danny chuckled at his wolf’s excitement. They didn’t care to put clothes on, just ran outside and shifted as soon as they reached the forest edge. Both wolves didn’t waste any time. They played and f****d for a few hours until they were exhausted and gave back control to their human counterparts. 

It was already late in the night, so the couple decided to go and get some sleep. 

The next day Daniel, Gabriella and Diane had breakfast together and Diane expressed her apologies to Danny and congratulated the couple for their new beginning. She felt relief when she saw that the two of them reconnected with each other. She was worried that her words might have broken their relationship.

Gabriella told Danny about the fading tattoo but they saw that the words have recovered.

“I don’t know why I haven’t thought about it earlier but I think meditation could help Diane” Gabriella said

“Great idea” Danny said kissing his mate’s forehead

Meanwhile in Blue Moon Pack

Caroline got the news about Daniel and Gabriella finding Selene and the part of the prophecy that was revealed, their falling out and now the start of their meditation sessions. The four friends decided that Cary and Danny will keep in touch so it would be easier for the ex-mates to move on. Danny spoke to Nate a few times and Cary spoke to Ella but it was mostly Danny and Cary sharing information. 

Caroline also had some doubts about Nate’s feelings for her. She was in the same position as Danny but she also had her moments of weakness where she wished she was enough for him. The conversation with Daniel sent her on one of those trains of thoughts where she started wondering how long her heart could take it. She tried to focus on the news about Selene but that feeling of sadness didn’t disappear completely.

Caroline went to find Nathaniel to fill him in but as soon as she went outside their house she felt a sharp pain in the swollen belly. She whimpered and looked around for somewhere to sit but she didn’t see anything so she just kneeled on the ground. 

One of the warriors saw her and rushed to her

“Luna! What’s wrong?” he asked worriedly

“I am not sure, I am in pain but I still have a week before I am due to give birth” She answered between whimpers

“Alpha, Luna is in pain. May I take her to the hospital” The warrior mindlinked Nathaniel. He needed his permission to touch her, or he might lose his head

“Where is she?” Nate growled back worried about Cary

“In front of the house, but I don’t think she is in condition to walk”

“Take her to the pack hospital, I will mindlink the doctor and meet you there. Be careful” Nate warned the warrior.

The warrior took the Luna in his hands and ran as fast as he could to the hospital. Sure enough a team with medical staff was waiting for them and took Caroline. In a couple of minutes Nathaniel came to the hospital and asked the warrior if he had any news but he didn’t. Nate dismissed the warrior as he knew he just finished his patrol shift. 

A nurse came out of the room where the warrior said the Luna was and Nate asked her what was going on.

“Alpha, Luna is in labor but there are complications. The baby isn’t in the right position and for some reason her vitals are weaker.”

Nate didn’t need to hear anything more, he rushed in the room and there was no force that could stop him. He went straight to Caroline’s side and cupped her face. Her face was pale, she was sweating and it was visible that she was in pain.

“You must save the baby, Nate. Promise me!” she whispered

“No, you will both be OK. Please Cary, I cannot lose you.” Nate begged

“Nate, I failed you. I am not enough for you. I can’t even carry your heir. Please forgive me.” she cried

Nate was speechless. Is this how she felt? Is this what she thought about their relationship? Of course it was. He never told her how much he cared about her and never expressed his feelings for her the way he did with Gabriella. He was the one who failed her, not the other way around.

“Cary, I am the one who failed you because I never made an effort to tell you how much you mean to me and how much I really love you. You’ve been nothing but supportive and caring and I took you for granted but this will change, I promise. Just don’t leave me please” the Alpha begged.

She didn’t have a chance to reply as the doctors said it was time to perform the c-section. They couldn’t make Nathaniel leave his mate’s side, he held her hand and whispered sweet nothings and encouragement words in her ear. 

Not too long after, the room was filled with the cry of a baby. The future alpha of Blue Moon pack. The nurses cleaned and measured the baby and gave it to his father as the other medical team finished sewing the Luna. 

As soon as the baby felt his father’s arms his cries stopped and his body was enveloped in a soft glow. Nathaniel was in love with the baby in his hands. His trance made him miss the glow and he didn’t see it. He turned to Cary and gave her their pup. The doctors said her vitals are back to normal and she was out of danger. They left to give the family some privacy. 

Daniel’s fingers brushed Caroline’s while giving her the baby and his body tensed.

“Did you feel that, Atlas?” he asked his wolf in their shared mind.

“Yes, us almost losing Cary and Tsunami made me realize I was still holding on to the pain from our past. I don’t want to lose another mate. Me letting go of the hurt recovered the bond on our end and now we can also feel our connection” Atlas explained

“What’s wrong?” Cary asked worriedly. Nathaniel just looked at her with a soft smile and took one of her hands in his

“Mine” he growled lowly afraid to scare their son. 

Cary’s eyes widened as she realized what that meant. Her tears fell freely on her cheeks as Nate took her lips in his in a loving kiss. 

When they broke the kiss to get some air, Nate got in the bed next to his second chance mate. He knew their closeness would help her wolf heal her faster, but also he needed to feel the sparks of the bond.

“What would you like to name him?” Nate asked

“Zane Gregory Moore” Carolne replied looking lovingly at their son.
