3. Mates
Gabriella’s POV
My thoughts were interrupted by the knock on my door.
“Ella, are you ready?” yelled Cary from the other side of the door. “The boys are waiting for us in the car” After Danny decided he would call me Gabby, he claimed the rights to that nickname and forbade everyone else from using it. Cary decided to call me Ella and Nate stayed with my full name, Gabriella, saying he liked it the most.
“Coming, Cary!” I yelled back, hopping on one foot trying to put my shoe on the other.
I went out and locked the door of my room. Cary wrapped her arm around mine and we headed outside. Calypso, my wolf, was running in circles in my head.
“Walk faster. I want to meet my mate. I miss mate!” she said in my head.
“Relax, Caly. You are making me dizzy,” I told her, giggling.
“I missed him,” she replied with a pout. She was so cute and I loved her. I missed our mate, too.
After a couple of minutes, we were in the parking lot and the boys were chatting happily outside the car. He sensed me approaching and locked eyes with me. Everytime I look into his eyes, time stops, the Earth stops spinning and everyone else disappears.
He came closer, wrapped his arms around my waist and crushed his lips on mine.
“I missed you, Gabriella,” he breathed after we stopped kissing to get some air.
“I missed you too, my love” I said, smiling, enjoying the tingles from the mate-bond. He kissed me again. Our friends - long forgotten.
“Nate, let Gabby breathe. We need to go to school, we are going to be late!” said Danny, trying to sound irritated but failing. I knew him and Cary were happy for us.
Two years ago, me and Danny decided to take two years at school for one so we could graduate high school together with Nate and Cary. We were sort of nerds so it was easy for us to do it.
All four of us graduated last year with honors and decided to take advanced business classes for another year. It would help Nate as a future Alpha and Cary as a future betta. For me and Danny it was just fun to learn new things along with our friends.
Two months ago, I turned 18 and found out that Nate was my fated mate. Both of us were surprised but also happy. Turns out we both had a crush on each other but didn’t want to act on it, afraid it might ruin our friendship. Danny and Cary both said they expected it and that it was too obvious that we had loved each other all these years.
It doesn’t matter anymore, though. We are together and in love and the world couldn’t be a happier place.
Nate’s chuckles broke out of my thoughts. He threw the keys to Danny and slid into the backseat of the car, dragging me with him and sitting me in his lap.
“I guess I get to be shotgun and I don't even have to fight for it. You guys are boring.” Cary said with a fake pout and we all laughed.
Danny started the car and I leaned my head on Nate’s chest. I sigh, feeling complete. I finally had a family - maybe not by blood, but I was sure our souls were connected somehow.
Nate kissed the top of my head, running circles on my back. I looked up at him and once again became lost in his eyes. He leaned down and kissed me lovingly, his arms pulling me closer to him. I wrapped my arms around his neck, running my fingers through his hair.
Our bubble was busted as we felt the car stopping in the parking lot. I sighed and smiled at Nate. He helped me out of the car and we all headed towards school, Nate holding my hand.
“Gabriella, I want to take you out on a date tonight. Dad is finally home and we can tell him about being mates and then I will take you to dinner,” Nate said while waiting for me to collect my books from the locker.
“I am so nervous about that, Nate. What if he doesn’t approve?” I asked, suddenly feeling nervous.
“Gabriella, my father will be happy for us. I am sure. He already knows how smart, kind and hardworking you are. You would make a great Luna. I know it, he knows it. Trust me, my love.” His confidence was contagious. I just smiled and pecked his lips before we headed to our first period.
The school day passed by fairly quickly. Us four had all our classes together - the perks of being friends with the Alpha’s sons.
“So, Gabby, are you nervous about meeting my dad today?” Danny asked with a playful wink.
“Honestly, yes. A lot. I am only nervous about what your father would say. But also, I don’t know if the pack would accept me as their Luna. I don’t know if I am fit for the role.” I said honestly.
“Ella, why would you doubt yourself? I can’t think of a better person fit to be a Luna,” Cary said, holding my hands in hers and squeezing them reassuringly.
“Luna is supposed to be the mother figure of this pack. I never had a mother. I don’t know how to be a mother” I said, panic evident in my voice.
“You will be the perfect Luna, Gabriella. Trust me. You are selfless, strong and caring. And we will be by your side all the time,” Nate said, sneaking his hands around my waist from behind. He kissed my neck on the spot where my mark would be and a quiet moan escaped my mouth.
Nate chuckled at me but I felt his hard member pressing against my back. Danny cleared his throat
“Let's don't make dad wait. You can do your lovey-dovey stuff after you talk to him,” Danny said, and got in the car in the driver’s seat.
The drive to the packhouse was relaxing. We chatted happily and sang along with the radio. Danny parked the car and we all got out.
“Good luck! Although I know you wouldn’t need it.” Cary said, hugging me.
“Don’t worry, Gabby! You got this!” Danny said and also hugged me, earning a low growl from Nate and his wolf Atlas.
“Oops, sorry, bro” Danny put his hands up and smiled sheepishly at his over-possessive brother.
