“Sorry, I prefer to shower alone,”  Lucia said to the older gentleman. She walked to the bathroom and as she got into the tub the old man joined her. “I am sorry, I said, I would rather shower alone. The old man laughed again and, “No darling, We can shower together I need to wash up too.” The older gentleman said. I looked to Just-as-high, “does something seem off here?” he paused and then scanned the memory, “She might be. If not she will return here later.” “How do you figure? This memory is sad. If her consciousness is here, then I am confused?” Thoth said. “Why?” I responded. “I found both her shade and shadow in the memory of when she taught herself how to ride find her first bike.” I looked at Just-as-high. He shrugged his shoulders, “I mean maybe, but I am betting my money she’s in here.” I nodded and Thoth agreed, out of annoyance. Just-as-high pressed play and we all turned to see the memory. The old man shoved his way into the shower and stood in front of the water. Blocking Lucia from getting any. “Dean, 64, lives alone has some weird job, and that is all she knows about him,” Thoth said. “Anything else?” Just-as-high asked?” “She met Dean once before, but he crept her put so much she had to leave.” “Why here now?” I asked.  “Dean stop!” We turned to the memory now to see Lucia in the car with Dean. She swats his hands away from her, which causes Dean to swerve the car, almost crashing but quickly gaining control. “I should take my keys and jab them into his neck,” Lucia said. Just-as-High looked at me,  “Okay, calm down, this  could be a flook, other than that the memory has been matching exactly.” Thoth said again, being a buzzkill. Dean then quickly grabbed her breasts and squeezed them. Lucia, driven by rage, grabbed her keys and jammed them into the side of Dean’s neck. “She is there, let’s get her!” I shouted in excitement. Thoth stepped into the memory and before the car had crashed, pulled Lucia’s consciousness. And the light was snuffed out and brought back again. Time did not move but became a single illusion. Just-as-high spoke first,” In the name of consciousness, Hallowed be the shade, Forsaken the shadow and be embraced, Clinging to the vitality.” Thoth stood up and then spoke, “The Essence, The Spirit, The Energy, The Vessel”  I finished the first part of the ritual, ”The four parts that make us, praise to these separated but connected entities. Who you are has been scattered but it is time to bring you back. So now we bring back the psychological, spiritual, emotional, and physical embodiment. Bring back the soul.”  "Welcome back!" Thoth said to the narrators standing before us. "Who the f**k are you," Lucia said. "I understand you are confused, but you need to remain calm" "Just-as-high stated. The three souls that stood before us looked weak, transparent. " Lucia tried to speak again but she couldn't. After a shriek, she was down on her knees gasping for air.  "Hurry, we must begin the ritual or their souls will be lost," Thoth said before he held his hand out hurling a ball of light towards one of the souls. They went flying back out of visible existence. Just-as-High smiled and chains wrapped around the neck and wrist of another soul. The soul began to sink until they were nowhere in sight. Lastly, there I stood, looking down on Lucia who took slow deep breathes, remaining as calm as she could. I walked up to her, lifted her chin, and kissed her forehead. Her head snapped back and her eyes began to glow. The area felt unstable and began to shake. Her tattoos aren't glowing, which means she has not accepted the truth. "IT HURTS!" she screamed in agony and I could see the soul begin to burn. "You need to accept the truth, or it will not work." I remained firm but she continued to scream. "I need you to listen and keep an open-minded"  I began to recite what was recited to me over a million times now. "All life involves suffering, there is truth in suffering. Suffering is imperfection. Imperfection is chaos and chaos is the opposite of peace." "Now I need you to repeat after me" but before I could say any more, the screaming stopped and there was just silence. Lucia, "No," she said back to me, tears falling down her face, She remembered, and because of that, I forced her to look me in the eyes. I could feel her hesitation, every negative and painful emotion, and with a shaky voice, she said "and I was never. I was never meant to achieve that peace." Her tattoos began to glow and every painful part of her life began to flash before her eyes and once she has seen it all she collapsed in my arms. "Thank you"  "Don't mention, you okay?"  "No, but I will manage. The awakening never gets any easier, does it?" "I was told it gets more painful the more you have to do it." Lucia laughed, "Well, I learned my lesson." "You said that 69 times ago," I mocked her, "Yeah, but at least I am not at 102" she teased before running off. I followed.  I ran to catch up with her, "Sometimes I hate being a narrator, the overwhelming majority doesn't achieve peace, and it's our job as narrators to put them on that right path. That doesn't bother you?" the tone in Lucia's voice lowered as she held her head down walking. "No, because unlike us, peace was for them. They just had to want it." I put my hand on her back, trying to cheer her up. "but then there is the added interference of other attempts to achieve peace. It is kind of unfair, isn’t it?" "That's what the guardians and protestors are for. They are entities outside of you, with abilities beyond soul logical understanding, sometimes created and other times other souls. These things can communicate with the soul’s higher self and are huge helps in your journey. " She nodded, still clearly upset, but it is normal after an awakening. We sat there in silence for a few minutes, it is pretty stressful coming back from an awakening. The side effects are hard. We are people that don’t achieve peace, yet guide others to the starting point of their journey to peace. We barely understand ourselves, all we know is there is something we value life and death yet are unable to have. I let Lucia breathe a bit more. “I’m ready,” she said looking up at me. I then handed her a list with names on it,  "I made sure you got less interesting people." "What's that supposed to mean?" she seemed offended, "Well, although I've been through the awakening more than you have, all my time has been spaced out, yours has been backed to back." She looked disappointed at her list, "Remember not to get so involved that you forget who you are or we will be doing that process all over again."
