Chapter 2: Outside the airport, eight tall and burly bodyguards with domineering auras and clad in suits walked toward Christopher and stood still in front of him. All eyes were on them. Remaining still, Christopher raised his eyebrows. "Young master!" A voice sounded behind them and the bodyguards gave way for him and a middle-aged man walking behind him. Christopher's eyes squinted with recognition. "Butler Gabriel?" "Young master, I'm so glad I've found you. I have been looking for you for a very long time and I was instructed not to return until I have found you," The old man dressed in a classy suit said with a wide smile on his face. A look of displeasure appeared on Christopher's face. "What do you want?" Gabriel bowed slightly. "The Eldridge family have requested that I bring you back home to London." The indifferent gaze on Christopher's eyes immediately turned back. "Take me back to London? This must be the greatest joke ever! Have they forgotten how they treated me and my mother and chased us out of the family many years ago? Have they suddenly forgotten how I had come begging at their doorstep for help when my mother was sick but they chased me out, beating me with a stick telling me not to step foot back in London?!" "Where in London are you taking me to? Or has all the Eldridge suddenly developed amnesia?" Christopher's voice was full of the endless hostility and anger that he had been suppressing for years. Hearing Christopher's words, Gabriel sighed deeply. He knew that the Eldridge family had been unfair to both Christopher and his mother. "Your father is sorry, Christopher. He's advancing well in age and he just wants to spend his last days with his children and grandchildren." "I am not his child! My last name is Peters and not Eldridge," Christopher continued, in a warning tone. "If you don't have anything else to say to me, I would advise that you leave because I have other things to attend to." As Christopher turned around to leave, Gabriel hurriedly called out, "Mr. Lewis, wait." He grabbed a briefcase from the middle-aged man behind him and handed it to Christopher respectfully with both hands. “This is all the information and the equity transfer letter of the Zenith group, which used to belong to your mother. Now, it’s only right for you to take over its operations. Treat it as a handover from the Eldridges.” “Handover?” Christopher raised a brow. “The Zenith group belongs to my mother in the first place. The Eldridges forcefully snatched it away from her and made claims on it. Even if you didn’t return it, I would have snatched it back on my own. So this shouldn't be called a handover but a return!" With that, Christopher walked away with Julian. Staring at his taut back, Gabriel shook his head and sighed. “He's just as hot-tempered as his father.” As the chief butler of the Hutton family, Gabriel was well aware that the Huttons had indeed gone overboard back then with how they had treated Christopher and his mother. However, the situation in London now was unfavorable, and he had no choice but to think of a way to repair the relationship between Christopher and the Eldridges. Gabriel patted the middle-aged man on his shoulder. “Liam Hemsworth, you’re now one of the most prominent figures in New York City. You ought to do something about the matter regarding Mr. Peters.” The middle-aged man nodded respectfully. “I managed to achieve what I have today, all thanks to you and the Eldridge family. It’s only right for me to do this. Don’t worry. I will do my best to help Mr. Peters.” If there were people who knew the middle-aged man and saw him being very polite and respectful toward Gabriel, they would have been astonished. That was because he was Liam Hemsworth, the wealthiest man in New York City and the business tycoon who owned businesses in seKatel states! … Christopher sat down at the back of the taxi with a deep frown. Andrew's appearance had reminded him of his painful past. Back then, he was called a bastard and an illegitimate child at a tender age and got chased out of his home together with his mother, whose assets and valuables were all seized. Afterward, his mother moved around and brought him to New York City where she worked hard to make ends meet. Although life was tough, she managed to raise him to adulthood. However, his mother developed an illness and collapsed after years of toiling and living a strenuous life. At that time, Christopher had just graduated from college, and his meager wage was a drop in the bucket compared to the hefty medical bills. He swallowed his pride and tried to seek help from the Eldridges, only to receive a heartless rejection and harsh mockery and criticism, which made him feel hopeless and resentful toward the Huttons. After he and Zara had been drugged, he collected $500,000 from his father-in-law for his mother's treatment but before he could arrive, his mother passed away. He felt useless and inadequate, he had let his mother down. To prove himself worthy of Zara, the only woman left in his life, he decided to recruit in the army and now, he was a successful man. … As they alighted in the familiar courtyard, Christopher couldn't help but feel nervous. He had left without saying goodbye now, he wondered what Zara thought about him. As he was about to knock on the door, he heard a loud laughter. "But, Aunty, I had heard that she was married before." "Oh, you mean that's good for nothing? He has been gone for five years now and he's probably dead. If you still have reservations that it would affect your marriage with Zara, we can get a death certificate for him!" "After that, Zara can officially be single and you can get married to her with no objection, Mr. Hermit." Christopher was stunned. That was the voice of his mother-in-law. How dare they try to get Zara married!
