*Monroe's POV*
Friday passes by slower than I would like and by the time I’m seated in philosophy, I am not in the mood to deal with Cade. If he’s expecting me to just fall at his feet and beg him to f**k me every time he gives me a little bit of attention he’s going to be thoroughly disappointed. But at the same time, I can’t deny that I’m attracted to him. I mean, you would have to be blind to not see how good looking he is and I am only human.
When he walks in, the teacher is right behind him so when he sits down, we have no time to talk. Or should I say, no time to say one word and then awkwardly stare at each other. I can’t help but wonder if this is intentional on his part.
After we win at volleyball again, Coach announces that next week is football. s**t. I mean, I’m not terrible at it but I am definitely at a size disadvantage here. Even though it’s just flag football, it’s pretty hard to intercept passes when they all go over your head. I start walking over to Charlie when I hear Xander yell after me, “See you tomorrow Monroe! Try not to miss me too much!”
I smile and then hear him laugh when I flip him the finger over my shoulder.
Before we split off to head home, I make sure we’re all on the same page for tomorrow.
“Okay, so the plan is to meet at my house tomorrow at 2pm, I’ll send the address in the group chat and then we can hang out for a bit, make ourselves super sexy, pre-drink a bit and then uber to the party, yeah?”
Charlie says, “What do you mean by sexy? I don’t think anything I own would fall into that category.”
“Don’t you worry, just show up at my house. I’ve got you covered.”
She looks a bit nervous at this, but nods her head in agreement anyway.
“See you tomorrow bitches!” I yell at them as I’m walking towards my bike.
It’s now way past midnight and I’m having a hard time sleeping. I’ve got this weird mixture of nervousness and excitement fluttering around in my stomach. I’ve never had anyone over to my house before.
I only manage a couple hours of sleep before my alarm wakes me up at 5am. I go for an extra long run to try and dispel some of my nervous energy. I’m getting close to my 11th mile when I decide I’ll try some kickboxing. Maybe that will work better. I’m not entirely surprised when it doesn’t.
It’s just past 8am when I finally hop in the shower. I let my hair air dry as I have plenty of time before the girls show up. I put some music on and begin obsessively cleaning every surface in the house, going over the guest rooms multiple times. 3 hours later, it’s almost noon. I make myself some lunch and throw an episode of Grey’s Anatomy. It’s a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine. When the episode finishes, I still have an hour to kill and my nerves are not calming down.
I bring Bear and Kobe out to the back with their frisbee and light up a cigarette. I smoke it while throwing it around for them. I light up a second and feel myself calm a little. Once the dogs tire, I go back inside and pour myself a glass of whiskey and put on another episode of Grey’s, realizing I still have 45 minutes until they get here.
When I catch movement from the window out of the corner of my eye, I look and see Maddy’s blue Jetta pulling into the driveway. I set my drink down, turn off the tv and run outside to greet them. Maddy parks in front of the garage and then they both run over to me squealing and the tension in my body is almost immediately gone.
“Holy s**t, this house is incredible!” Maddy screams. Charlie nods in agreement with a giant smile plastered on her face.
“You haven’t even seen the inside,” I say with a giggle. “Come on, I’ll help you with your bags and we can go in.”
Maddy has 3 bags where Charlie only brought 1. “Are you planning on moving in here Maddy?” I ask jokingly.
“I mean, now that I’ve seen it, I just might, but no that wasn’t my original plan. I just couldn’t decide on what to wear so I packed options and figured you guys would help me decide!”
“Good thing we have several hours then,” I say with a wink and she laughs and hits me with her bags.
