Episode 7 – The Dance Preparation Disaster

1517 Words
The morning of the school dance, Mia woke up with a mix of excitement and absolute panic. The walls of her bedroom seemed to be closing in on her, or maybe it was the realization that in just two days, she’d be surrounded by music, lights, and everyone staring at her in a fancy dress. ‎ ‎She rolled over dramatically, flopping onto her pillow. Her cat, Mr. Whiskers, meowed as if mocking her. ‎ ‎“Why did I agree to this?!” she groaned, burying her face in her hands. ‎ ‎Her phone buzzed immediately. Carla. Of course. ‎ ‎“MIA! Are you ready for the dance?” Carla squealed through the video call. Her bed in the background was full of glittery decorations and half-folded dresses. “You’re going to look amazing!” ‎ ‎“I… I don’t even know what to wear!” Mia groaned. ‎ ‎“You have two days! That’s plenty of time,” Carla said, smirking. “Maybe. Hopefully. Probably.” ‎ ‎Mia sat up and rubbed her temples. “I just… panic.” ‎ ‎Carla laughed. “That’s your superpower. And remember… Ethan likes chaos. You’re perfect for him.” ‎ ‎Mia groaned. Why did she have to be so dramatic? ‎ ‎ ‎--- ‎ ‎By the time Mia reached Harmony High, her stomach was a tangled mess of nerves and excitement. She tried to avoid all chaos, but of course, Ethan was already leaning casually against his locker, smirking like he owned the hall. ‎ ‎“Morning,” he said softly, eyes flicking to her with that teasing, warm smile that made her cheeks burn instantly. ‎ ‎“Morning…” she whispered, trying to sound casual but failing miserably. ‎ ‎Daniel appeared moments later, hair perfectly in place, uniform crisp, grin confident as always. ‎ ‎“Morning, Mia,” he said, clearly trying to get her attention. ‎ ‎Mia groaned. Two boys, one hallway, infinite chaos. ‎ ‎Ethan leaned toward her, whispering softly, “Ignore him.” ‎ ‎Her cheeks burned. ‎ ‎Daniel noticed her glance and smirked. “Ignore who?” ‎ ‎Mia groaned internally. Great, the chaos has already started before the first class even begins. ‎ ‎ ‎--- ‎ ‎First Period – Dance Preparation Disaster ‎ ‎The principal had declared the first period a “Dance Preparation Meeting,” which basically meant all students had to help decorate the gym. ‎ ‎Mia sighed, knowing full well she’d end up causing trouble. She wasn’t good with decorations, tape, or anything that required precision. ‎ ‎Carla grabbed her arm. “Don’t worry! You’ll be fine. You just need… determination.” ‎ ‎Mia rolled her eyes. “Determination doesn’t stop me from tripping over everything in sight.” ‎ ‎Ethan was calmly setting up lights, his movements precise and perfect. Daniel was rearranging streamers, clearly trying to show off his strength and efficiency. ‎ ‎Mia’s stomach twisted. Two boys. Two completely different energies. One chaotic heart. ‎ ‎ ‎--- ‎ ‎Decorating Disaster #1 ‎ ‎Mia was assigned to hang the disco ball in the center of the gym. She climbed the ladder carefully, though her hands shook with nerves. ‎ ‎“Be careful!” Ethan called from below. ‎ ‎“I’m fine!” she shouted, trying to sound confident. ‎ ‎Of course, she wasn’t. The ladder wobbled, the disco ball swung wildly, and—BAM!—it hit Daniel square on the shoulder. ‎ ‎“OW!” Daniel shouted, rubbing his arm. ‎ ‎“I… I’m so sorry!” Mia exclaimed, heart pounding. ‎ ‎Ethan immediately ran over. “Are you okay?” he asked, looking at Daniel. ‎ ‎Daniel rubbed his shoulder, narrowing his eyes slightly. “I’ll survive… barely.” ‎ ‎Carla whispered from the side, giggling: “This is why we can’t have nice things.” ‎ ‎Mia groaned. Chaos level: 10/10. ‎ ‎ ‎--- ‎ ‎Lunchtime Drama ‎ ‎During lunch, Mia tried to find a quiet corner with Carla. ‎ ‎No such luck. Ethan appeared beside her. “Mind if I sit?” he asked softly. ‎ ‎“Uh… sure,” Mia muttered. ‎ ‎Daniel leaned over from his table. “I can join too, if you want,” he said smoothly. ‎ ‎Mia’s brain short-circuited. Two boys. Two completely different vibes. One disaster-prone girl. ‎ ‎Carla whispered, “Welcome to the love triangle, again.” ‎ ‎Mia groaned and sat down, biting her lip nervously. ‎ ‎ ‎--- ‎ ‎The Menu Mishap ‎ ‎The cafeteria served pizza that day. Mia, distracted by her flustered state, tried to grab a slice but knocked over a tray of drinks. ‎ ‎“Oh no!” she yelled. ‎ ‎Ethan immediately grabbed her hand. “Careful!” ‎ ‎Daniel noticed and frowned. “Are you okay?” ‎ ‎“I’m fine!” Mia shouted, though her cheeks burned bright red. ‎ ‎Carla face-palmed. “This is… amazing.” ‎ ‎Mia sighed. Chaos followed her everywhere. ‎ ‎ ‎--- ‎ ‎Afternoon Class – Dance Rehearsal Chaos ‎ ‎After lunch, it was time for dance rehearsal. Mia had never been coordinated, and dance moves were her sworn enemies. ‎ ‎Ethan paired with her for practice. “Relax. Just follow my lead,” he said. ‎ ‎Mia nodded nervously. She tried to follow, stepping on his foot immediately. ‎ ‎“OW!” Ethan exclaimed. ‎ ‎“I… I’m sorry!” Mia muttered, cheeks burning. ‎ ‎Daniel, across the gym, crossed his arms, smirking. Clearly, he was enjoying watching her struggle. ‎ ‎Mia groaned. Two boys, two feelings, one complete disaster. ‎ ‎ ‎--- ‎ ‎Decorating Disaster #2 ‎ ‎Later, Mia tried to hang streamers around the walls. She reached too high and pulled the tape roll too hard. The roll unspooled rapidly, wrapping around her like a ribbon monster. ‎ ‎Ethan rushed over, laughing. “Need help?” ‎ ‎“Yes!” Mia yelled, flailing in a tangle of streamers. ‎ ‎Daniel, not wanting to be outdone, came over. “I can help too.” ‎ ‎Mia sighed. Two boys helping her. Chaos multiplied. ‎ ‎ ‎--- ‎ ‎Romantic Tension at Rehearsal ‎ ‎As Mia untangled herself, Ethan whispered softly, “You’re really amazing, you know.” ‎ ‎Mia’s cheeks burned. “I… I’m just messy.” ‎ ‎“No,” he said. “You’re brave, funny, and beautiful when you’re chaotic.” ‎ ‎Mia’s heart skipped. ‎ ‎Daniel, noticing, stepped closer. “I think she’s amazing too,” he said quietly. ‎ ‎Mia groaned. Two confessions. Two boys. One disaster. ‎ ‎ ‎--- ‎ ‎After School – Costume Shopping Mayhem ‎ ‎After school, Carla dragged Mia to the mall to pick a dress for the dance. ‎ ‎“Relax! You’ll find something cute,” Carla said, tugging her into the first boutique. ‎ ‎Mia tried on dress after dress, each one more ridiculous than the last. Finally, she settled on a light blue dress with tiny sequins. ‎ ‎“This one… maybe?” she asked. ‎ ‎Carla clapped. “Perfect! You’ll look amazing!” ‎ ‎Ethan, texting her constantly, commented: “Blue suits you. Very cute.” ‎ ‎Daniel, meanwhile, sent: “Hope you pick something nice… I have great taste in dates.” ‎ ‎Mia groaned. Two boys. Two texts. One flustered heart. ‎ ‎ ‎--- ‎ ‎Evening Texts and Overthinking ‎ ‎That night, Mia’s phone buzzed non-stop. ‎ ‎Ethan: “Can’t wait for tomorrow. Dance practice was fun.” ‎ ‎Mia: “I… survived your teaching.” ‎ ‎“And you were amazing!” ‎ ‎Daniel: “Hope you’re ready for tomorrow. I expect perfection.” ‎ ‎Mia buried her face in her pillow. Carla laughed. “You’re living a romantic sitcom. Enjoy it while it lasts.” ‎ ‎Mia groaned, staring at the ceiling, thinking about what would happen at the dance. ‎ ‎ ‎--- ‎ ‎The Night Before – Panic Sets In ‎ ‎Mia couldn’t sleep. Her room was a mess of dresses, hair accessories, and scattered notes. She thought of Ethan’s soft smile and Daniel’s confident gaze. ‎ ‎Her phone buzzed. Ethan: “Sleep well. Tomorrow will be amazing. Just… you and me.” ‎ ‎Mia blushed, typing back: “I hope I survive.” ‎ ‎Daniel: “Sleep tight. Don’t trip over your own shoes.” ‎ ‎Mia groaned. Chaos everywhere, love everywhere, disaster everywhere. ‎ ‎She rolled over, trying to calm herself. Tomorrow would be chaotic. Tomorrow would be funny. Tomorrow might even be perfect.
