Episode 5 – The Jealousy Game

1614 Words
The next morning at Harmony High, Mia woke up with a strange mix of excitement and dread. Her phone buzzed immediately as if it could sense her mood. ‎ ‎“Good morning, disaster queen,” the text read. ‎ ‎Mia groaned. Of course—it was Ethan. ‎ ‎Carla’s video call popped up instantly. ‎ ‎“Mia! Did you see that? He called you ‘disaster queen’! That’s basically a love nickname!” Carla squealed. ‎ ‎“I… I don’t know if it’s love!” Mia protested. ‎ ‎Carla rolled her eyes. “Sure, sure. You’re in denial. Admit it—you’re falling for him.” ‎ ‎“I… I don’t know!” Mia yelled. She flung her blanket off dramatically, nearly knocking her cat off the bed. ‎ ‎“You’ve been saying ‘I don’t know’ for a week,” Carla teased. ‎ ‎“I… it’s complicated!” Mia said. ‎ ‎“Yes, because Ethan isn’t complicated at all,” Carla laughed. ‎ ‎ ‎--- ‎ ‎By the time Mia got to school, she was already late. Of course, being late meant that Daniel was already there, standing perfectly by the lockers, hair perfect, tie straight, and smirking. ‎ ‎“Morning, Mia,” he said confidently. ‎ ‎“Morning,” Mia mumbled, trying to act calm. She failed. ‎ ‎Ethan appeared from around the corner, leaning casually against the lockers, smirking like he owned the world. ‎ ‎“Morning,” he said softly. ‎ ‎Mia’s stomach twisted. Two boys. One hallway. Total chaos. ‎ ‎Ethan noticed her nervous glance at Daniel and whispered, “Ignore him.” ‎ ‎Mia flushed. “I’m… trying.” ‎ ‎Daniel raised an eyebrow. “Trying, huh?” ‎ ‎Mia groaned. Why did life feel like a complicated board game with no instructions? ‎ ‎ ‎--- ‎ ‎First Period – Algebra Disaster ‎ ‎First period was Algebra, Mia’s personal nightmare. Numbers hated her, and the feeling was mutual. ‎ ‎Carla sat next to her, scribbling notes like a genius. ‎ ‎“Try not to fail today,” Carla whispered. ‎ ‎“I’ll try,” Mia said, though her pencil immediately rolled off the desk. ‎ ‎As she bent down to pick it up, she accidentally knocked over her water bottle. The liquid spilled toward Daniel’s desk. ‎ ‎“OH NO!” she yelled. ‎ ‎Ethan, across the room, noticed immediately. He darted over. “Step back!” ‎ ‎Mia stumbled, accidentally bumping him with her elbow. ‎ ‎“You’re impossible,” he muttered with a faint grin. ‎ ‎Carla whispered: “You’re literally a walking disaster.” ‎ ‎The teacher sighed. “Mia Santos… again?” ‎ ‎“I… I’m trying!” Mia shouted. ‎ ‎Daniel, watching from the side, frowned slightly. “You’re fine?” ‎ ‎Mia groaned. “I’m fine!” But she wasn’t. She was panicking, embarrassed, and distracted by Ethan all at the same time. ‎ ‎ ‎--- ‎ ‎Lunchroom Drama – Chaos Level 100 ‎ ‎During lunch, Mia tried to find a quiet corner with Carla. ‎ ‎No luck. ‎ ‎Daniel was at a nearby table, clearly hoping to catch her attention. Ethan, meanwhile, appeared next to her, casually sitting down. ‎ ‎“Mind if I join?” he asked. ‎ ‎“Uh… sure,” Mia muttered. ‎ ‎Daniel’s eyes narrowed. He didn’t like this one bit. ‎ ‎Carla whispered: “Welcome to the jealousy game.” ‎ ‎Mia groaned and sat down, trying to eat her sandwich without tripping over the complicated feelings she had for both boys. ‎ ‎Of course, nothing went smoothly. A stray football rolled across the cafeteria floor. Mia jumped back, spilling her drink everywhere. Meatballs flew across the room. Chaos erupted. ‎ ‎Ethan immediately grabbed her arm. “Careful!” ‎ ‎“I… I’m fine!” Mia muttered. ‎ ‎Daniel tripped on a spilled soda and landed near her. “Uh… sorry…” he mumbled. ‎ ‎Mia blinked. Two boys, two chaos incidents, one lunchroom. ‎ ‎Ethan handed her napkins. Daniel helped her clean the drink. ‎ ‎Her brain couldn’t decide which moment was more embarrassing. ‎ ‎ ‎--- ‎ ‎Afternoon Class – English Assignment ‎ ‎English class was no better. The assignment: write a story about an embarrassing experience. ‎ ‎Mia immediately thought of lunch. The meatballs. The soda. The chaos. Everything. ‎ ‎She scribbled furiously, hands shaking slightly. ‎ ‎Ethan leaned over and whispered: “Write about it. Make it funny.” ‎ ‎Mia nodded, cheeks burning. ‎ ‎Daniel peeked over her page. “That’s… interesting.” ‎ ‎“Don’t judge!” Mia muttered. ‎ ‎Ethan chuckled quietly. “It’s perfect. Exactly your style.” ‎ ‎Mia’s heart skipped. ‎ ‎ ‎--- ‎ ‎Science Fair Announcement ‎ ‎During the last period, the principal announced the upcoming school science fair. ‎ ‎Everyone groaned. ‎ ‎Mia perked up. “Science? We just… exploded everything yesterday!” ‎ ‎Ethan laughed. “Maybe we’ll be more careful this time.” ‎ ‎Daniel frowned. “I’ll win that fair. Obviously.” ‎ ‎Mia rolled her eyes. “Of course, Mr. Perfect.” ‎ ‎Ethan winked at her. “Don’t worry. I’ll protect you from disasters.” ‎ ‎Mia’s cheeks burned. ‎ ‎ ‎--- ‎ ‎After School – Walking Home ‎ ‎After school, Mia expected peace. Nope. ‎ ‎Daniel caught up to her. “Hey, are you free this weekend?” he asked confidently. ‎ ‎Mia froze. ‎ ‎Ethan appeared beside her. “Why do you care?” he asked softly. ‎ ‎Daniel blinked. “Excuse me?” ‎ ‎Ethan smirked. “She’s with me.” ‎ ‎Mia’s heart raced. She didn’t even know how to respond. ‎ ‎Daniel raised his eyebrows. “Oh… I see. This is new.” ‎ ‎Mia groaned. “You’re both… chaos!” ‎ ‎Ethan laughed. “I like chaos.” ‎ ‎Daniel frowned. “I like her.” ‎ ‎Mia sighed. “Great… now it’s a war.” ‎ ‎ ‎--- ‎ ‎Evening Texts ‎ ‎Later that night, Mia’s phone buzzed. ‎ ‎Ethan: “Today was… fun. You okay?” ‎ ‎Mia smiled. “Barely. You’re dangerous.” ‎ ‎“I like dangerous,” he replied instantly. ‎ ‎Her heart skipped. ‎ ‎Then Daniel texted: “Hope you didn’t get into trouble. Dinner tomorrow?” ‎ ‎Mia groaned loudly. “Carla! What do I do?” ‎ ‎Carla laughed. “Decide fast… or chaos will decide for you.” ‎ ‎Mia buried her face in her pillow. ‎ ‎ ‎--- ‎ ‎The Jealousy Game Intensifies ‎ ‎The next morning, Mia tried to avoid both boys. She thought she could survive the day by keeping her head down and walking fast. ‎ ‎Wrong. ‎ ‎Ethan appeared first, leaning casually against the lockers, smirking. ‎ ‎“Morning,” he said softly. ‎ ‎“Morning,” Mia muttered, cheeks burning. ‎ ‎Daniel appeared next, hair perfect, grin confident. ‎ ‎“Morning, Mia,” he said. ‎ ‎Mia groaned. Two boys. One hallway. Chaos level 100. ‎ ‎Ethan noticed her nervous glance at Daniel. “Ignore him,” he whispered. ‎ ‎Mia flushed. “I’m… trying.” ‎ ‎Daniel smirked. “Trying, huh?” ‎ ‎ ‎--- ‎ ‎Chemistry Disaster Round Two ‎ ‎Chemistry class was a repeat of yesterday’s disaster. ‎ ‎Today’s experiment: mixing acids and bases. ‎ ‎Mia tried to be careful. Her hands shook slightly. ‎ ‎As she poured, the liquid splashed everywhere. ‎ ‎“OH NO!” Mia yelled. ‎ ‎Ethan immediately caught her hand. “Careful!” ‎ ‎Daniel noticed and frowned. ‎ ‎Carla whispered: “This is like watching a sitcom live.” ‎ ‎ ‎--- ‎ ‎The Ride Home – Tension Rising ‎ ‎After school, Ethan offered to walk Mia home again. ‎ ‎The sun was setting, orange and soft, casting long shadows on the pavement. ‎ ‎Mia tried to act calm. Failed. ‎ ‎“You’re quiet,” Ethan said softly. ‎ ‎“I… I’m just tired,” she replied. ‎ ‎“From school chaos?” he asked. ‎ ‎Mia rolled her eyes. “Yes. From surviving you, too.” ‎ ‎Ethan laughed softly. “Good. That makes me happy.” ‎ ‎Mia blinked. “You… happy?” ‎ ‎“Yes,” he said. “Because you survived the day.” ‎ ‎Mia’s heart skipped. ‎ ‎Daniel appeared again across the street, clearly watching. ‎ ‎Ethan smirked. “Ignore him. Focus on me.” ‎ ‎Mia laughed nervously. “You’re bossy.” ‎ ‎“And you like it,” he teased. ‎ ‎Mia groaned. ‎ ‎ ‎--- ‎ ‎Episode 5 Ends With: ‎ ‎Ethan officially claiming Mia ‎ ‎Daniel showing jealousy ‎ ‎School chaos continues ‎ ‎Lunchroom disaster and Chemistry mishaps ‎ ‎Mia realizing her feelings for Ethan are growing stronger ‎ ‎The tension of the love triangle fully established ‎ ‎ ‎
