Fira shifted uncomfortably on the cave floor, her large eyes flicking to the entrance as she spoke. “There’s a colony of elves deep in the forest, but…” She hesitated, her voice dropping to a whisper. “They don’t take kindly to… outsiders.” She paused again, glancing at Aydin. “Humans.” Aydin raised a brow. “Humans, huh? That’s specific. Is that why you and… uh…” He gestured toward the owl bear. “Why you ended up here?” Fira nodded solemnly. “Yes. The elves tolerate some of us forest dwellers, but only if we stay out of their way. They don’t trust anyone who smells of another realm.” She looked at Aydin pointedly.
