Chapter 25
Barrett tilted his head, his brow furrowing as he stared at the swirling pillar of light in the distance. “So, what do we have to do exactly to fix this… uh, nexish thing?” he asked, his deep voice breaking the tension. Aydin glanced over at Barrett, a small smile tugging at his lips despite the gravity of the moment. “Nexus,” he corrected gently. “And what we have to do is… complicated.” The group paused, forming a loose circle as Aydin began to explain. He motioned toward the nexus, its energy rippling through the air around them. “A nexus is like a wound in the fabric of our world. Right now, it’s unstable, leaking raw magical energy. If we leave it like this, the energy will continue to corrupt everything around it. Eventually, the Wastes will expand, consuming more land and life.”
