The Choose One

chapter 8: Meeting

The three ladies were gradually becoming a threat to the community, because of their adamant nature. Fear gripped the people, the whole land was topsy-turvy. Amid that dismay, the elders called for an emergency meeting.

"We all know what happened some few weeks ago at the reunion how some of our daughters that were not ceremonially purified for the 'Tamar'kumeh' reunion were taken along with the chosen bride. They were supposed to return after a few days, but their return was over-extended. We waited patiently since we did not have the right to question our ancestors. Now the vírgins are back, but from the look of the events that encompass their return, they don't seem to be carrying the sacred order. Our land has been defiled and our people might soon be plagued by the wràth of the ancestors. What must we do to appease the ancestors, to return the chosen bride and withdraw the judgment." One of the elders said and took his seat.

" I greet you all my people, yes we all know that what has befallen our land is strange. However, it's worthy of note, that this land is presently confronted with a double trouble. And in all of these, we're deeply wallowing in parliament of ignorance of what's going on, because we don't know what's happening, and we're not sure of what to do."

What are you trying to say, we don't understand your point, elder Unkuma said.

" My point is very straight and simple, first of all, we're not sure about our stand with the ancestors, secondly we're confrónted with three ladies that are now becoming an object of hórror, a great threat to our land. And we're shrinking down in fear. Enough of all these shrinking.

I suggest that we should cónfro'nt these three ladies and fórce them into compliance. They must tell us what they've seen and heard from the ancestors and also tell us what happened to the chosen bride. Yes! I feel we should force them to talk because no matter how ripe a fruit is, it can't be older than the tree that produced it." The elder explained and sat back to his seat. Trying to control his temper not to get out of hand.

Another elder jumped up and spoke

" Do you think we can fórce those ladies into compliance? Do you know what you're saying at all? Perhaps you weren't there by the Riverside on the morning they returned from the ancestral realm. Maybe you didn't take a look at their eyes, if you had, you'd know that those ladies pósséss a strànge power that none of us can confront. Let me tell you all our elders. It is by the mercy of the ancestors that we are not consumed already by these three ladies. I recommend that we turn to the ancestors in petitions to entreat their forgiveness so that this evíl will be averted. This is my honest opinion. But if we insist on viólénce, we will never get to the root of this matter and this evíl will end up consuming us and our children."

Another elder interrupted.

" I agree with our elders here but before we turn to the ancestors to entreat their forgiveness, what must we do with the problem at hand? These three ladies are already a thréat to this land, let go and get them down immediately before they go beyond boundaries to déstroy our land and citizens.

As he was still speaking, someone ran from the village into the room where they were holding the meeting....

" our elders, our elders," the boy said panting.

"Our elders, those ladies that appear by the riverside, have ascended to the house prepared for the chosen bride. They've déstróyed the doors and have broken down the altar that was built by our elders for the offer of sacred sacrifices. Now they are headed towards the great temple to demolish it. Our elders please come and help your people.

those ladies are déàdly."

The elders panned out the meeting as they surged into the village towards the ladies to see what they could do to stop the ladies.

Back in the colony where I was, I was left alone for a few days. But suddenly I started to hear a strong wind blowing from a distance. The whole realm was shaking greatly.

The wind blew into my colony.

Then I heard a voice from amidst the wind that presided two beautiful creatures dressed in adorable colorful robes.

"Limah you must get up and come with us, there is a great próblém, we need to take you out of this place. And you must return now to help your people, for a great évil has befallen your people."

"Who are you and where are you coming from? " I asked anxiously.

"Limah you must come with us now" one of them spoke out looking at me with a peaceful delight.

" Alright I'll come with you but what about the other ancestors that brought me here? Where are they?" I asked.

" You're asking too many questions, my daughter, you'll get to understand things better later, but there's no time. We must leave now. We need to get you out of here and send you back to your people. Get up and come with us now. Except if you like it in here."

One of them said as they held my hand and we disappeared.

The elders went to confront the three ladies, but they couldn't believe what their eyes saw.

It was too late to undo what dàmàge the ladies had done. The elders stood helplessly looking as the ladies wreck déadly hàvóc.
