Chapter 16
After downloading the app, Mirha slowly began using it in quiet moments of her day. She did not treat it as something important at first. It was simply a place where she could read thoughts, pass time, and distract herself from the heaviness she often felt inside. Her mind was still healing, and her emotions were still fragile, so she kept her interaction with the app minimal and private. One evening, she wrote a short post from her heart. It was not polished or planned. It simply reflected what she was feeling in that moment.
Her post read: “Sometimes life breaks you in silence, and you do not even understand why. But even in that silence, I am trying to stay patient and keep believing that better days are written for me.”
After reading it once, she uploaded it and placed her phone aside.
On the same night, Aatish was spending a quiet moment after finishing his daily routine. He was resting in his room and casually scrolling through his phone to relax his mind. He was not searching for anything specific, only moving through random posts without much attention. Suddenly, one post caught his eye. It was Mirha’s post. Something about the honesty and emotional softness of her words made him pause.
He read it once, then read it again. After a short silence, he liked the post and left a small comment.
His comment said: “May Allah ease your pain and grant you strength. Stay patient, better days are coming.”
He did not think much about it at that moment. It was just a respectful response to someone expressing their emotions.
The next day, Mirha noticed the notification. At first, she ignored it, but later curiosity made her open the app again. She saw the like and the comment. She read the comment slowly. It felt different from others she had seen before. It was simple, calm, and respectful. There was no judgment in it, only kindness.
She then clicked on his profile. As she explored, she found more posts where Aatish had written about patience, gratitude, faith, and life challenges. His words were simple but thoughtful. The more she read, the more she felt a quiet sense of similarity in thinking. It was not excitement, but a soft comfort, as if someone understood life in a similar way.
After a while, she replied to his comment.
Her reply was: “Thank you for your kind words. It really means a lot.”
Later that evening, Aatish saw her reply. He read it once and then decided to send a direct message. It was simple and respectful. He wrote: “Assalamualaikum. I hope I am not disturbing you. I just wanted to say your words are very meaningful. May Allah make everything easy for you.”
He sent the message and waited.
Mirha saw the message notification.
She opened it.
She read it slowly.
She stayed quiet for a few moments, holding her phone.
Her mind was not confused, but hesitant. It was the first time someone had directly reached out to her like this, and she was still unsure how to respond.
After thinking for a while, she did not reply immediately.
She simply locked her phone, placed it aside, and lay back down.
The room became silent again.
And that night, the message remained unanswered—not out of rejection, but out of uncertainty.
Aatish did not know this yet.
And Mirha, with her quiet thoughts, slowly drifted into sleep, still carrying the weight of her emotions and the unfamiliar feeling this new connection had brought into her life.
